Canucks trade rumours

Did anybody catch the trade rumours in yesterdays province??

Dan Cloutier and Jovo to florida in exchange for Roberto Luongo. There was also rumours that florida was interested in Burtuzzi as well.

I like the idea of going after a top notch goalie but I think we are already short on defence and cant afford to lose Jovo.

any thoughts?

I don't see it happening. The only reason it COULD happen is to unload Jovo before we have to renegotiate a contract end of this season.

The Canucks organization also has too much faith in Clouts still so it's unlikely. Bert leaving Vancouver? NO FUCKING CHANCE.

My guess is that Keenan came to Nonis and maybe brought it up, because Nonis did admit they spoke, and Nonis shot it down right away. These umours get started up really quickly, especially if they involve star players.

Bert isn't going anywhere in my opinion he is a Vancouver "Hero", and im sure Nazzy has something to say about it. However Jovo/Clout for Luongo sounds more realistic. I have not seen Jovo perform to the extent he was last season.

i think this trade should happen but i agree that bertuzzi should stay. jovo is good but he fucks up alot. he has a good scoring ability and he hits hard... it'll be a loss but robert luongo may be the key to getting closer to the stanley cup. as far as cloutier goes, he needs to go. his potential his very high, makes very clutch saves, but luongo is far superior. cloutier has consistency issues and has proved to be prone to injury. i say luongo for clout and jovo is a good trade.

don't know much about bowmeister though i'll have to look him up

i think that would be a great trade, cloutier is not a consitant goalie and jovo gives the puck up so much. canucks should do it

Just cause he is a hero doesn't mean anything HELLO TREVOR LINDEN anyone>?

but ya that would be a bad deal for us if it actually happened.

DECODED is right we don't have enough depth on defense to trade a Jovo. Jovo, Ohlund and Salo are logging 25+ min each i believe, because we have such little depth otherwise, though Bryan Allen is coming along.

We lost Jovo, and Ohlund and Salo's minutes go up more and who else do we have left Allen, Baumgartner, Brookbank on D? you get the idea

Cloutier i'm fine with trading but ya prob wont happen rumour.

Wait till the end of the season. Luongo isn't a proving winning goalie either thopugh he is on one of the shittiest teams in the NHL

only in vancouver.

so everyone's ready to trade whatever florida wants as long as we get luongo in there somewhere.

um, let's check luongo's career playoff record. 0-0. hmmm, sounds like we'd be no closer to the cup then with anyone else.

none of these deals make sense, as stated, we're crazy thin on defence as is. and say what you want about jovo, but he's a freakin warrior during the season and playoffs. he's not performing? 17pts in 23 games. that's fuckin dope for a d-man. his rookie season he helped florida get to the finals. but yea jovo sucks. what's gretzky and the braintrust at the olympic squad thinking?!?!?!!??!

only in vancouver would you have people ready to tinker with a team that is winning. we're first in our division, and 2nd in our conference. but let's just fuck with the chemistry royally, because vancouver fans are retards.

i'm sorry the big line isn't heatley/spezza/alfreddson right now, but not everyone can be. and it's only 1/4 of the way into the season.

oh and what guarantees does florida have that jovo will sign? and i'm pretty sure luongo's up for a contract this year too. do people even think this shit out?

Are you serious? Orca Bay having too much faith in Clouts????? hahaha...I think they are just trying to cover their ass to the media hoping they did not fuck up this year with signing Clouts...after last years debacle VS the wings. This is Clout's last chance..if he blows it he is out of here. I would almost actually like to witness Bertuzzi trade for Luongo :) Bert has been too slow to start, sure he is getting the points NOW, but he always just seems to float on the ice doing FUCK ALL. Hell, Naslund does more work out there, even Trever LINDEN does more work than Tuzzi, and yes, the Henrik Sedin is doing more work than the power forward. If Bert does not start producing more for what he is getting paid, both Clouts and Bert are out of here.

Jovanovski is gonna STAY! We can't afford to give up such a positive, hard working, play-reading D-Man who also has great speed and hand-eye coordination talents and skill! He is worth the resigning, but not worth giving up to a goalie. I can see Clouts and Jovonovski for Jagr though :) (after the day Naslund decides to leave the NHL) heheheh

Ohlund fucks up somtimes too, what's your point? I have seen Jovo skate up from behind on an oppenent on a breakaway and save the day with a check on the stick. Tell me you don't see the little things in Jovo that make the BIG PLAYS??? Jovo may not be a top producer in points, but for the work he does out there...he is one of the top D-Men in the NHL..'nuff said :mexitoke:

I would love to see bertuzzi go for a top notch goalie, I was saying this before the year started. The only problem is the only people who like bertuzzi are the ones in Vancouver. Everybody else hates him, and not because he is good but because of his character. Peoples opionions are going to take a while to change.

cloutier and jovo for luongo and bouwmeester is a wicked deal.. throw bert into the mix and it turns out to be a horrible deal..... So fuckin what if luongo hasn't played in the playoffs..... World hockey championships and the olympics/world cup is good enough for me. Behind Brodeur, Kiprusoff and maybe hasek, he's the next best goalie in the league.

Also, why hasn't anyone mentioned how Bouwmeester is a solid defensman who's skating style can be compared to the likes of Paul Coffey.. Give the kid time, he's thinking defense first, but once he matures, he will become a premium 2 way defenceman. I was hella excited about this trade when it was rumoured before the season started. If they are gonna do it, they better do it before the halfway mark of the season. It takes time for goalies to get used the to the team in front of him and vice versa.

explain why Hasek has no problem getting used to any team he is on->this season with Ottawa (with the exception for Buffalo who sucked in front of him)?

Cloutier and Jovo for Luongo and Boumiester would never happen. Despite showing potential Clountier is largely unproven and definitely not an "A" list goalie. Jovo is a top rated 2 way defence man and could eventually be a Norris trophy candidate, once Lidstrom slows down anyway. Luongo and Boumiester are both "A" list players and have a lot of up side as they are so young. Boumiester has a little way to go realistically but would still be a great fit for the Canucks. The only way I could see a trade like this would be to dump salaries and in that case Florida would be looking for top prospects or draft picks.

I highly doubt Bertuzzi is going any where. As mentioned he's had a slow start but no one that has a clue should care. What matters is the playoffs and who can't help but wonder what we could have done against Calgary with Bert in the mix. Him and Naslund have amazing chemistry, can you name any better 1-2 combo in the league? As for people not liking Bertuzzi, I bet that any GM in the league would trade their right hand and a first round pick for him. Teams care about winning and Bertuzzi could contribute to any team in the league. Bertuzzi is the kind of palyer that can take charge of a game and change the out come. Anyone remember the momentum that he created after leveling Jackman against St Louis a few years ago. After that hit St Louis d men made several bad give aways to the Canucks on the fore check.

i hope we unload cout soon. we've givin him enough chances. as for jovo:

Season Team GP G A P +/- PIM PP SH GW GT Shots Pct
2002-2003 Canucks 67 6 40 46 19 113 2 0 1 1 145 4.1
2003-2004 Canucks 56 7 16 23 2 64 2 0 1 1 143 4.9
2005-2006 Canucks 24 5 12 17 -1 26 5 0 1 0 43 11.

jovo slumped in 2003 - season, but he is quickly regaining himself. so i say keep him, don't send him back to florida.
