when I was 4 and living in the Philippines, I watched a show about how pigs were butchered in daytime television. And when my mother was in highschool, her school went on a fieldtrip to a slaughterhouse. I don't think this sort of shit would ever happen here....
though I'm a vegetarian, I don't have so much a problem about people who butcher and eat meat, so much as I do with people who eat it, but are purposefully ignorant about how it got on their plate. it's a way of life everywhere else in the world.. but heaven forbid, people in our society may actually realize *gasp* getting a tasty steak on their plate was not a happy and clean process! --Joanne :P |

ooh ooh, what about when the white men who would beat harp seals over the head and skin them alive? or the ones where the white men would use leg traps on foxes before skinning them alive? personal favorites! |

lol, apparently fish are smart too!
either way, I don't think intelligence should be what is used to determined what types of animals should be killed for food. if that were the case, there are tons of human beings who I feel should have been made into hot dogs years ago. |

that was some of the grossest shit i've ever watched - and i have never been ignorant to how animals are treated. i was a vegeterian for about 7 years when i was a kid, and now i eat some meat occasionally. but, i just don't understand WHY animals have to be treated like that before we eat them. i have no problem with eating them to live, but can't they have a life first? or does that 'cost to much'. psh, they should make laws about that shit. so disgusting.
