Rate the last book you read!
What was the last book that you read? Rate it!
(I figured we have one of these for movies, why not books?) My last book I finished was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I'd give it a 7/10 - awesome for a kid's book and I can't wait to see it as a movie... it's gonna be dope! |

hello nostradamus, coupland. 8/10. had some really profound thoughts and is from a local author about local issues. good stuff.
part way through life after god right now, also by coupland. it's a collection of short stories about a bunch of different social issues. it's a fast read and i'd recommend it to anyone. 8/10. |

grapes if you liked Shake the hands with the devil by Dallaire, you have to read Philip Gourevitch's "We Wish To Inform You That We Will All Be Killed With Our Families". It's a book on stories from the Rwandan Genocide. Very very good. I just watched a documentary on Dallaire of him going back to Rwanda for the first time in 10 years (it was a few years old). But yeah if you haven't yet read Gourevitch's book, I highly recommend it.

Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Froes
--eh, it was okay. very imaginative book, with some killer writing at parts. i could never become completely lost in it however, and i'm not sure why. i think it's partly because the book was written in three different styles and just when i was getting comfortable in one section it would switch to another. the characters were never solidified in my head, so i didn't really feel all that attached to any of them. 6/10 Mao 2 by Don DeLillo --this guy always writes really beautiful, poetic prose...but i didn't find this book as good as his other ones. maybe i need to re-read it at some point and try to connect everything more. 8/10 |

Just finished the last Harry Potter book (the Half-Blood Prince)... I'd give it a 7.5/10... I liked the ending of it the best out of all the books, and I really appreciate the fact that they are getting older... but the relationship things kinda bugged me - were we ever that immature?! lol, but I will continue to read the next books in the series as I think that things will pick up as they get older (or get worse, who knows?)

Freakonomics
-after a long break I finally powered through the book. It was pretty interesting at times, but some of the relationships were self-explanatory and others seemed a bit implausible. anyways, an easy read that speaks to my interest in economics :) 6.5/10-ish. |

Just finished "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood... It was actually pretty good (better than I was expecting), but the ending kinda pissed me off... Anyways, I'd give it a good round 7/10. Very good writing style she has, extremely descriptive.

The European Dream: Jeremy Rifkin 9/10
It provided a great look at how the US is about to take a nose dive and in many repects already has. It also (of course) looked at what is replaing US dominance and how it is different. This is a must read for anyone that wants to know what and why things are happening in the World. |

last boks I read were A Million Little Pieces and the sequel My friend Leonard by James Frey. count them as 1 book, because they really are. My friend Leonard strarts about 10days after A Million Little Pieces ends.
9/10 kept me completely enthralled throughout, I finished the 800 pages between the 2 books in less than 3 days. |
