Thinking of.....

Hey, I was thinking of visiting the UK in the new year. Does anyone know how its like over there, like how are the clubs/raves? I know it has a wonderful history and beautiful castles. What else is kewl about it, I want to go there to learn more about it, any special places I should go visit? Any interesting cities? I'm thinking of taking the Virgin train everywhere.

Just what I heard

I agree It would probably be interesting, castles, history ect.
The parents went there on a trip around Europe, sadly they were not
impressed with the UK. The mother had nothing but bad things to say about it.
Not to burst your bubble, but I'll just list what she said.
- To many people, no room to move
- To expensive, I guess the pound to dollar exchange is pretty crazy
- Way to small, apparently everything is tiny, hotels ect
- Everyone Smokes, in restaurants ect, said it's hard to breathe

A Welsch (spelt wrong) man I know took his honeymoon there.
He's welsch so he really wanted to go, he said the plumbings really weak
in a lot of places the paper goes in a dedicated garbage can because the sewer can't handle it. When he got back here he spent the whole day in his back yard marveling at how much space he had.

vitamin-x ^^ sounds like maybe your parents aren't open minded to different cultures or somethin.. UK is piiimp. Wouldn't live there.. but it's definitely cool to spend a few weeks there.

the club scene is a lot different, it's more pubs than anything.. cept trendy downtown areas. London has some cool clubs i've been in.. Ministry of Sound for ex. Newcastle has a road littered with night clubs and pubs, it's supposably the best road in UK for nightlife, I just can't remember the name of the street hmm.. drank equivalent of 20 beers that night and I was too drunk to remember where I was staying so I couldn't get a cab home! hahaha

special places.. go to Lake District! so beautiful. you have to take a hike around the hills and see a view of the lakes.. wow.

Hey - you should totally go to the UK! I lived and worked there, and my parents live there right now so I've been over there a ton of times to visit them and sightsee and stuff

Vitamin-X is right on a couple of things - the people there are a little different, especially in London, you feel like everyone is in a hurry all the time and doesn't have time for you
and the pound is very expensive,

but there are lots of good things too

publife is definitely alive and well in England! you'll never run out of choices - but they can be smoky, like they are down in the states

clubs in London are awesome - i've also heard that Manchester has some wicked nightlife - but beware, especially in London if you are heading out in Soho/ Leicester Square area the prices are nuts - like 10 pounds cover! but there's ministry of sound and everything down there, you would definitely find a club with your choice of muzik

London also has really awesome shopping too, i pretty much live on Oxford street! but there are other things to see too...

train is definitely a good way to get around. they also have a lot of competition between airlines though so you can get super cheap flight deals all over the place - if you are going all the way there you should totally try and get over to France or spain or something - Paris is only a trainride away, especially good for points if you are going with an S.O. ;)

Oxford is a pretty little university town, beautiful architecture and little cobblestone streets and stuff - you will find that all over the UK, but Oxford is fun cos there are lots of young people that live there, as the town is pretty much centred around the university - and they have good shopping too :)

scotland is really pretty too, the countryside is amazing, so going by train you would see some awesome scenery

you should go and see Stonehenge - the really famous circle of rocks crookedking was talking about - one of the wonders of the world I believe

anyway, i could go on and on forever about the UK and all the things to see and do - did i mention they have really good shopping? :D

pm me if you have any more questions
