Im part owner of my place. I cant deny looking like a toad, i was the unlucky one in the family to get hit with the ugly stick. Your talking about just coming to see the show, but then your talking about rather barfing at home, then you talk about keeping my address and not being able to promise anything? Your multiple personalities kicking in again? For some sick reason, i think you were waiting to bait me again. Nonetheless escalation of our debates or there lack of seems imminent. Ill be waiting.

My stripped down point is that our society requires everyone to have enough respect for each other to at least not interrupt someone when they're speaking in public. If you disagree with me there, I suggest that you change your attitude before going into any kind of academic debate situation. Serious thinkers won't take you seriously if you don't have enough respect to let your opponents finish their arguments before you begin a rebuttal.
Fable, if you don't consider the political arena to be an academic debate situation, then that shows a fundamental difference between how you and I view politics, and quite frankly, I'd rather live in my kind of society than yours. My 'manners' point was mainly meant as allegory, and your use of it to attack my ideas must either be flame baiting, a straw man, or simply a misunderstanding of my argument. This Haitian activist may or may not know his shit/be correct, but one thing is for sure, and that is that he is too immature to be representing his ideas in public. Someone else needs to pick up the torch on that issue before he shames his movement even further. This is a civilized country, not an angry mob. Oh, and this thread has degenerated enough that I'm not going to bother spending the time to post here anymore. Last edited by FlorpIncarnate; Dec 05, 05 at 06:46 PM. |

Angry mob? I think there needs to be an angry mob sometime soon (although the mob that is focussed, directed and understands what they are up against - which i guess defeats the idea of mob?) I got some more intel on Yves, and in the past he had dumped a bucket of red paint on foreign affairs minister pierre pettigrew? Which, considering that it didnt really amount to any larger plan or goal was reactionary initself. But, i believe(somewhat) that he is part of the reason that the movement exists in the first place, so his "legitemacy" or ability to organize, and be effective should not be questioned yet, lest we waste more precious time. Well, that was an interesting post, so I can't resist.

I assure you that I feel your pain with regards to the slow, seemingly random progress of democracy. However, Human societies have a history of being composed of people holding mutually incompatible ideologies, and I think that our current system (a logically inconsistant system which is built out of components taken from opposing philosophies) while distasteful for anyone who holds a comprehensive political position, is preferable to all-out ideological civil war. Perhaps the day will come when humanity has the technology to colonize other star systems, and then people of our respective ideological systems can go our separate ways and try our hands at building philosophically consistant communities. Until then we're going to have to live with each other. |
