Here's my 2 cents..
There are a ton of clubs in Van I would never go to. Why? It's simply the vibe. I do not want to go to a place where I feel like I need to watch my back the whole time, I can't step on someone's foot accidentally and get into a fight.
How can people say the music they play at these clubs doesn't have an influence on the drunk ass patrons? Of all the people that get shot/stabbed or whatever at clubs, how many are at top40/rap clubs. How many?! ALL. These guys go into these clubs, already thinking their hot shit, listen to the music all night, bob their heads, all like their the rap stars, 'ballin', etc. Then, some guy steps up when you're trying to bust a move in front of a bunch of bar sluts... what's next.
Music influences culture. People try to keep up with the culture, and, if the culture nowadays tells people if someone gets in your face, to do something violent to that person, they do whatever it takes. Whatever it takes to show everyone else their 'part of the culture' It's woven into 3/4 of these dudes heads!
Here's the difference, and why bars and music sometimes are not to blame. I listen to a ton of hiphop, but does that mean I go to top40 clubs looking to scrap some dude? No. If I have 5.. fuck, 10 drinks in my system, do I loose all morals, all judgement? Absolutely not. Do I then think I can step up to some 6'5 g-dog in line at the bar? Fuck no! It takes a certian person, who has either been brought up to do these things, or has been absolutly brainwashed by the hiphop 'culture' and thinks they're invincible, just like all these rapstars.
I dunno kids. The last 5-7 years things have gotten way out of hand. About the same time hiphop REALLY got into the top40. Is that a coincidence?
