I started as an "after-sesh" after blazing in highschool at lunch. Then as i started drinking more as i got older it started to hold it's grip.
Then you get trapped into this cycle where you smoke a shitload when you drink and then you need a smoke after every meal, then after sex, when u wake up, when you sleep, when your studying, ahhhh it gets crazy. After that your screwed, i was up to a pack and a half a day. It was insane, i used the patch to quit for a few months then started back hard again. Finally after a good 6 years i quit using the nicotine inhaler. It allowed me to get the nicotine while still doing the act of inhaling. Then the inhaler gets gross and you can't even look at it. By then you have the strength, with a little determination, to quit for good. I'm on 1 year and about 7 months since i quit. Haven't had a smoke since but ever since i started going to the persian tea house a few weeks ago i can't stop thinking about smoking! ahhh. I'll never go back to cigarettes though, that would be the worst mistake of my life. |

I smoke(d)... I would say I started mainly for "after-sesh" (as someone else stated - pot's really the worst thing for ya, lol)... then it became a social thing (go to the smoke pit at school, hang out, talk, make friends)... after I left highschool I quit completely, easily (even though I was up to over 1/2 a pack a day)... now I smoke only prime times (NO cigarettes, they are so gross) and only a couple a week (3 maybe)... so, I think I am doing pretty good :) Also, I dont really get cravings either and I could quit if I wanted, but I love the taste of prime times :D

Second of all: no you didnt quit "cold turkey". You even made a thread about it on fnk about how you gave in to your addiction and BOUGHT a pack of ciggs just so you could smoke one. definition of "cold turkey" Quote:

oh yeah. i had a couple of puffs from a cigarette tonight. first drag in like a month and a half.
i've never been a regular smoker, usually only smoke when i'm high or if it's been a while (like a month) since i've smoked last. i hope i don't get addicted. i do it to get a charge of inhaled energy as opposed to ingested energy (caffeine). or sometimes just to be social. |

i quit like 8 months ago , although I wasn't really a heavy smoker, I could barely go through a pack in a week.
one thing I don't understand, is how the HELL do you people smoke a pack a day. f'n christ. that's like one every 20 minutes lol just as you are recovering from the gross headache and energy loss you have another! wooo! |

ive quit for almost a month and a half now and almost on a daily basis i still crave for a cigarette. i get really mad at ppl who do the whole "social smoking" thing..seriously, why harm your body on a social basis...dude that lil head rush is not worth it. go spin in a circle for 5 minutes if u want a funky feeling.
serioously pisses me off when i see ppl in ther 20+ start smoking.. seriously WHY START. one day ull end uup having problems breathing like me and ull start regretting..like me. |

it'll get better though, the first month or 2 .. i got cravings a lot. now that its been a good 6 months, I rarely ever get a craving. Although I occasionally buy cigars when I'm drinkin, those aren't gross and chemmy and addictive. |
