Got the MSN Virus? Hell, you should click here even if your dont. Save your computer!

"Hey, is this you?" No, that's not me. It's a link to some funky activex script. Then you think "but that's my email address.." Click and done. Now your friends get to put up with your insatiable ego surf gone wrong. We are suppose to be a generation plugged in, then you go give the rest of us a bad name. If you fell for this in the first place you should be forced to suffer in the realm of 56k dialup until you know better. Even if your the cunning type who is ahead of these crazy tricksters, you should follow my lead and scan your computer..

pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm

Offering one of the best online FREE virus scanners I have yet to find.
*Turn OFF any POPUP BLOCKERS as they will not let the scan window open*

Checkout the link above and follow the button in Internet Explorer to give your computer a full on digital douche. You can even think of yourself as a little more tech savvy after.

Oh and don't give me that "I have anti norton virus" shiit. Half of you don't know how to work your virus scan software and the other half your scanner doesn't work and you don't know it!

Panda only catches about 82.02% of viruses on a rough scale +-1%

Norton (if working) catches 85.17%

And of course Kaspersky, my personal favourite catches 99.46%

when we got the internet back up and running in our flat I was running my desktop through my laptop.. and I thought that if the laptop had a firewall, spyware protection and virus protection, then the desktop would be fine..

So, I went online.. my flatmate would come through and check his emails and his myspace on the desktop, I would browse away on my laptop and everything seemed nice and comfortable.

But then one day, on a cold Glasgow evening, I sat down on the desktop to make some tunes (the more powerful of the two which I use for sequencing and storing all my precious samples and tracks), and moments in, windows popped up with a message saying:

Quote:
Some windows system files have been altered. Please insert your windows XP cd to repair these files
I put my windows cd in the drive but nothing happened. "Never mind," I thought, "shutdown and restart, that'll solve the problem.."

It didn't.

My desktop wouldn't start up at all! My life flashed before my eyes! I prayed that I hadn't lost over ten years of musical work, not to mention photos and other assorted files that I hold dear.. (porn :nads:)

Trying to run Windows in safe mode brought up the list of critical files that are needed to run the operating system. When it tried to load a corrupt one, I noted it down and retrieved that same file from my laptop. I had to replace several files by copying them onto the desktop via floppy disk, but in order to do this, I had to copy them from my laptop, onto a USB key, them round to a mates house, to copy them onto floppy, then start the desktop, run in DOS mode, go into the windows system32 folder, and replace each corrupted file with uncorrupted ones..

What a total nightmare!! It took me a good while, but I was determined to salvage my music..

Finally I got the desktop up and running. It was running rediculously slow and a lot of my hardware was not running properly. I had to reinstall Norton, coz that was corrupted too, and when I did a virus scan there were about 520 viruses and loads of spyware.

Months later and it's still a bit unwell, but I have learnt my lesson..
A) don't let other people use your computer to surf the internet
B) always use virus protection and spyware removers ON EACH computer
C) back up your system!!

It was a painful and emotional experience, but I learned how to fix computers that are, for want of a better word - 'completely fucked!'

I hope you have enjoyed my story.

the panda antivirus program is not bad at all...I used it once to rid of a virus that neither norton, adaware, spysweeper, trendmicro or some of the other spyware programs could remove. But this program was a bitch to uninstall fully...:mexitoke:
