i got a virus..

some spyware bullshit that keeps on showing pop-ups of antispyware software, but it all costs money, which i do not have.

does anyone have a program they can send me to get rid of this problem?

how you've been close enough to andrews balls to catch that, i don't want to know.

click the Start button, click on Run
type 'msconfig' without the ' '
click the Startup tab.

now you are looking at a list of all the programs that automatically startup when you boot into Windows.

remove any programs that you are unaware of or dont look right.
if there is a program you dont know if you should get rid of it go to google.com and search the filename.

for spyware/virus's id go with the following

Microsoft Anti-Spyware
Lavasoft Adaware
Webroot Spy Sweeper
Spybot Search and Destroy
AVG Antivirus

That sucks, I have a whole bunch of fire walls and stuff, so I don't have a problem with spy ware and such, but I know ad aware is good

Ad-Aware Se Personal Edition 1.06 -Spyware
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition -Virus
ZoneAlarm 6.5.722 -Firewall

They are all free and do the trick. Not bad on your system resources either.

Also run through those startup items like FeelGood said. Will help speed it up a bit and maybe remove some bad shit.

i downloaded spybot search and destroy". it got rid of the pop ups and now when i open internet explorer it goes to my homepage and not some fucking "buy our antivirus software" homepeage, but there is still some flashing thing at the bottom of my screen saying "critical system error".

to make matters worse, i got to return this laptop to my dad in less than an hour, virus free.
