Cactus Club, and restaurant such as earls, joeytomatoes, milestones, and even sammy j's usually go out of their way to accomidate customers who have had a bad experience, or lie really well about a bad experience, pretty much automatically. I worked for about 6 years @ cactus, earls and joeys, and unless the costumer was a blittering idiot, and couldnt get their story right, there was usaully some sort of apology accompanied by either gift certificates or some drinks.
On a side note, i relished the chance to bust someone who was outright bullshitting, but could have easily afforded the bill. In the cases of "food poisoning" there was usually always an immediate, email, letter, gift certificates, call from the gm, chefs or sous chefs, and then usaully a sample of food immedietly frozen, tagged, and sent off to the health board testing labs. Youd be suprised, and actaully a bit scared, about how many times you probably get food poisoning, or related sickness in your life and dont realize it! The new health codes for new restaurants are getting extremely strict! Ive worked at some amazingly clean places, and ive worked at disgusting places. The funny thing is, in my own experience, except for a few examples, the finer the dining experience the dirtier the kitchen! Id critisize the level of cooking skill/understanding at times of cooks at restaurants like cactus, perhaps, but fuck, do they know how to stay organized and CLEAN! Its just part and parcel to the way this still of premium casual multi establishment businesses are run. hope you feel better. |

I once had THE WORST service at Cactus Club (in Coquitlam btw) - We were seated but THAT WAS IT. 40 minutes later, we were still sitting down with our menus (I wanted to see how long it was going to take for them to come to us, but we decided that was long enough for a complaint). And even though a waitress was going to the table across from us (the only 2 parties in her section) she completely ignored us. The only time we got 'help' was when we walked out the door and they asked us how everything was. I told them. And then went home to write a letter to head office.
They responded by apologizing and said they'd look into the service at that location...and sent us a $50 gift certificate to try it again. FREE STEAK MEAL BABY. But to this day, that is still my worst restaurant experience - they gave ME a tip that day. |

Food poisoning sysmptoms usually start within the 1st 3-5 hours of eating, not the next day after you wake up. I'm not saying you didn't get it, but since you didn't get sick until the next day it may have been something else. Regardless, I still think you did the right thing and made them aware, because if it was food poisoning, then other people may also be a risk.

i don't eat at cactus club.
you know why? because of their incredibly POOR service. yup.. that's right. they may have trashy ho-like waitresses (generalization, excuse me) who flirt with guys for a bigger tip, but when it's just me and my bf (and we tip AWESOME when we get good service).. we get SHIT from our servers. so fuck you cactus club, and fuck your food poisoning too.. i will get my lychee martinis elsewhere thank you. |
