In regards to the rake , the rake in no-limit is higher then in limit in local casinos. Ive been playing poker for six years, in that time, ive heard every complaint imagineable, few people ever blame themselves if they arent making the type of results they want. Complaints about rake, getting rivered, etc, ive heard a million times. In poker , the game is always changing, youve got to improve or you will be left behind. In 1999, all my friends pretty much played the same limit, now some play .50-1$, some play 300-600$. Some took the game more seriously than others.
All games in casinos are beatable. In 4-8 you are good if you make 2500$ fulltime, in 6-12 about 4000$ FT, and 10-20$ about 10 000$ FT, and 2040 15 000 $ FT. In regards to bluffs, i would say its harder to call down bluffs in limit (2040and up)then in any type of no-limit. First try and figure out what a bluff is in limit, because most players cant. Top limit players are ultra-creative.Most of the time , if 3 people see the flop, everyone is probaly going to miss the flop. Whoever outbets the others the best will win. The best limit players are expert manipulators and have expert salesmanship. They can sell you a bag of dirty laundry and tell you its gold. Players will sit down and watch a supposeably good player show nothing but junk hands, then proceed to call down the same player and get show nothing but the nuts, and wonder what is going on. The nuts may be J3 (like Winston has shown me ,lol) or whatever big pocket pair. Top players have the right hand at the right moment , and know what to anticipate. Top limit players have a better idea of how u play your own hands then you do. Racks are 500$ in 2040 , and they usually last a couple hands to the river, see how often you can afford to pay off a suspected bluff.... In no-limit, if you can guess somebody's pair that is enough. In bigger limit holdem you have to have to know somebody's kicker too. In no-limit the times you face being bluffed out are rare. You should be playing tight ,and not be involved in too many pots. If you are a smart no-limit player you make other people make tough choices by moving your chips in first. Also in no-limit you can afford to play tighter so you should always have a strong hand. And most sane people arent going to make to try and bluff tight players who always show strong hands. Of course you still will have tough decisions, but not too many per eight hour session. In limit , a great player can confuse the f#ck out of you every hand. |
