Haha, sorry buddy just frustrated with how this team hasn't taken any chances in years and think this 'core' or players is the key to the team.
They just need to shake things up ya know? And this was a perfect op to do that. And once again, they didn't. I'm happy they got rid of macarthy, but weinrich? isn't that guy in his late 30's? Last edited by firestar; Mar 09, 06 at 03:29 PM. |

All i gotta say is if they think they can make a run at the cup with Auld and Nornenen they there on Crack. Auld is a great backup goalie who has had a pretty good season so far replacing Cloutier but he is not a No 1 guy nor will he ever. They should have picked up Cujo or at least Roloson to play tandem with Auld in case he slips up in the playoffs.

Ya besides the whole goalie issue. They want to test Auld + the canucks in the post season.
Hence they are keeping alot the same, and just waiting for jovo and salo to come back. Ohlund is a game or two most likely away. Not as bad as I thought Nonis would do obviously could have maybe done a touch better but its pretty hard this year with the cap not to mention not a big market. |

We need someone who knows how to make limited mistakes and is a career plus + side player. Edit: Apparently Norinon was a good prospect at one time. Well I guess we see Auld is the starter for now. Last edited by KenJi; Mar 09, 06 at 06:06 PM. |

Personally I'm pretty happy with the trades. They shored up the defence and got a good back up goalie for draft picks and a few minor prospects.
On another note though I'll just say this. Everyone that's hatting on Bert will look really dumb when he starts playing well again. Every person in this thread will guaranteed be all "I was always behind him." |

p.s: i still don't know about jovo. I hope finally the canucks can play some defence in the playoff's. Every Canuck player with the exception of maybe on or two players is a minus player in playoff's at least Carney has proven with Anaheim he can play well defensively in the playoff's. Hope he brings that to the nucks. |

I was really pleased with the trades at the deadline then Wienrich being announced later deffinatly made my day Nonis did a bang up job in my opinion Auld is proven ready to be in the NHL, our defense is looking a whole lot better now and Mikka is a very competent backup looks like we should make a good little run of it this season. I don't forsee a cup but maybe a conference final or somthin deffinatly....

I love how the most vocal people are always the most under educated of the bunch. I agree with a lot that was said here, my opinion at best, is no better than anyone else’s. But I do think a lot of people in this threat are spouting off what they heard from someone at work, or their Dad grumbling about.
Alex Auld, star potential goalie. The stats prove it, as I stated before, rate #7 out of all goalies in the NHL. He is on pace for close to 36 wins this season. Plus he is one of the most played goalies in the NHL. So that leaves me to believe all the spouting about him, is purely based on the same argument that was brought up when he first started. No experience. He has already proven himself to be a #1. In fact he’s almost twinning the good first couple runs Dan Cloutier had. If he gets 6 more wins this season, he’ll have tied Dan Cloutier’s best, and most likely PASS his best outing. We will see what happens with the arrival of the post season. My bet is, he won’t choke like Cloutier, and he won’t get injured like Cloutier. Having Mika Noronen will only re-enforce Alex’s competitive nature, and will make him a better goal tender going into the stretch. Now, think about that for a minute. |

Anyways, Okay fair enough, but what happens when clouts comes back? All of a sudden this 'star' goalie will be nothing more than a back-up once again, and Noronen, will become the 3rd, which is the main reason he wanted out of Buffalo. Auld is alright, not great, not fabulous.. just alright. Vancouver will have to make up their minds at the end of the season as to who's the #1. I hope it's Auld, I really do, (Not only because he looks similar to Jay Dabbler) I've wanted clouts out of vancouver for years. What they should have done is instead on getting these 7-8 defenceman, they should have but a package together for Biron. And maybe get one 4th line defence. Trade clouts when he's healthy and get some half decent defenceman in return. And trade Jovo for a good 1st line centre that can actually win faceoffs. I don't have any faith in the Canucks anymore, i don't think they'll make it far in the playoffs let alone winning a stanley cup. I would like them to prove me wrong, I really would, but I can't see that happening. Last edited by firestar; Mar 10, 06 at 03:31 PM. |

This is why Nonis is in charge, not you, nor I. So keep thinking you're a good source of reading/intelligence. Ingorance is bliss so they say. |

I haven't seen one post yet you made where you didn't have your head in your ass. I don't give a fuck who you are, seriously step off your ladder there Don Cherry! Bandwagon? What Bandwagon? I was never on any bandwagon there guy. I don't even want to argue about this anymore. It's hockey, we have a difference of opinion and you had to turn it into high school shit flinging and HAD to make it personal.. Uneducated idiot who? Just making yourself look bad there guy. Now back to the topic.. So, who do you think'll be the #1 at the end of the season with 3 goalies? Hopefully Normenen can prove himself, but I bet clouts (although he's done nothing for us this year) Will get the #1 roll next year? Opinions? |

The pressure is on the Canucks to let Auld have his try. We all know Auld is gonna be the Canucks starter. Might as well start getting him some playoff experience. 4 games isn't gonna cut it. They do have the option of dumping cloutier to another team when he is healthy. Someone has gotta go eventually anyways with the cap room were sitting at. |

Than again I've also always said the Canucks are really stubborn towards change.
I've said no Cloutier for awhile as has alot of media too, but the Canucks do not like change much I guess. Hence the Canuck core staying the same. I don't think we need a Cloutier in the group though anymore. Should be interesting to see what happens at the end of the season. Canucks need a top line center who can win faceoff's and score goals. Morrison is dipping off the radar. |

But as for your comment about my head in my ass? All my words were based on fact/stats. So I'd like you to clarify. I do however appologize. That Mangle guy got me all pissed off and you just replied at the wrong time. ;) |
