Ya him and his 45 year old Dave Babych.

I agree with you Senior and I'm sure most do that Auld stole Cloutier thunder, and Cloutier is done but its the Canucks that always have the problem pulling the trigger on these things for whatever deal.

but ya I think they picked up Noronen solely for the purpous of backing Auld up.

I think Cloutier getting traded would be best. 2.5 million dollars can get us another decent player.

Exactly, if the dump Cloutier for whatever they can get they also free up some cap room for a free agent or a trade. I honestly wonder though if Dan would really get another shot as a starting NHL goalie??? I could see it happening but he is definitely on the edge of going from prospect to suspect.

You got the wrong guy! Uhm, as for the head in the ass comment, you did come across at first with a high and mighty attitude and 'how could you go against what *I* say' but I guess that because you were having problems with that other mangle guy, so it's all good in this hood.

Sorry mate, saw all the code, thought it was cut & pasted. I wouldn't have cared if it was, it had some good points. I apologize if I came accross as being an ass about that.

You know, it's inconsistancy & lack of the ability to change things up that kills the Canucks EVERY year. Injuries to key players every year doesn't help things either.

I mean, think of the cap room we could free up!

Todd Bertuzzi F $5,269,080
Brendan Morrison F $3,200,000
Ed Jovanovski D $3,990,000
Dan Cloutier G $2,500,000

Ugh, these contracts are ridiculous...

Morrison + Cloutier are definetly expendable.

Jovo depending on if he can up his play to the way he was has been in 2002, and the 2003 seasons, may not be so expendable.

Bertuzzi not sure about.

Naslund and Ohlund are key members of the Canucks.

What exactly did I do to you? Maybe hockey is a little too intense for you.

imo this team is not a lock by any means.

these d-men should give the canucks an edge, and you can always use more stay at home types, especially come playoffs. they DID address their #1 need, and that's really what you're supposed to do at the trade deadline.

auld/mikka/clouts. as a tired cloutier defender i'll say his time here is clearly done, barring a catastrophic breakdown from auld/mikka. cloutier can and will be moved because goalies are rare, even mediocre ones, and there's always hope. not to mention cloutier would easily be cheaper then most goalies who have had his amount of starting experience.

bertuzzi. i'd like to see him go, if anything i don't see him EVER regaining his form in this city. dany heatley syndrome what! quite frankly i'm fuckin sick of todd's screw the pooch attitude he brings to what seems like every game. but we run the risk of getting little value in return, AND his salary makes him that much harder to move. whoever we get will be damaged goods one way or another.

morrison/jovo. i only lump these 2 together because it seems like jovo will leave, simply because i doubt our franchise can afford to keep another $4-5mil/year contract. it's being done now, but i don't see it being viable to have 3 guys taking up nearly 20mill in cap each year. morrison has been a complete bust this year, i have no idea what happened to the guy that was leading the swedish league in scoring a year ago. so he's expendable, and he's still a decent player, and i'd assume he has some value.

bottom line, this "core" will not be the same old core we see every year come this summer. jovo is in the air automatically, bertuzzi will be the subject of intense rumours (as usual). cloutier/bertuzzi/jovo/morrison are all expendable as far as i'm concerned, provided we get a GOOD to AWESOME centre to play with markus. the odds of them retaining all those players are slim to begin with not to mention it's not what the fans want. my wet dream trade is bertuzzi for marc savard. but i'm probably better off praying to my balls.

bottom bottom line. MARKUS NASLUND DOESN'T HAVE MANY YEARS LEFT. THIS FRANCHISE OWES IT TO HIM TO GET OFF THEIR ASSES AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.

additionally...

mccabe is a joke, his defensive skills are considered worse then jovo's. not to mention mccabe's lack of a physical game. something we all know jovo is capable of. TO fans have been campaigning to trade mccabe all year. often times for jovo straight up. go check leafs fan forums if ya want proof.

Wow, I really couldn't have said it any better myself, Influenza, Kenji, Mangle, these few paragraphs pretty much sum up everything. (Except for the Bertuzzi/Savard trade, we can do better than that :D)

Anyways, this is the point i've been trying to make since the beginning, Hot Karl just wrote it WAY better than me! ha!

I've had no worries with what you said M8.

and I totally agree Morisson has just lost it compleltly. I think now that he's more or less the second best center on the Canucks he is putting even more pressure on himself. Which is part of an NHLers life anyways.

I've only had a problem with mangle.

everything i would need to say has been said, other than mangle needs to stop comparing our current team to players from 10 years ago.
oh and the deals made were satisfactory to get us to the end of the season.

I will say this though neither Cloutier or Auld have been able to get to that level where they can steal games, and I mean rite steal them.

Like outshot 40-10 and win the game 3-1. Example Nashville and Vokoun 3-1 win. We outshot them like crazy but we lost big time.

A Mclean would have stolen a game in the 2002 playoff series against minnesota. Thats what we need from Auld.

I can see Auld do it, but man he doesn't even have a shutout yet though alot of that is because Van's D has been pretty bad

Canucks at Trade Deadline
As much I hate them .. i want them to make the playoffs so I may get to see my AVS twice in the post season.

HOWEVER.. the damn team is slipping. only 3 PTS ahead of Edmonton who is in 8th!
Then u got Anaheim who are sitting in 9th --- 7 pts behind the canucks BUT w/ 3 GAMES IN HAND.

im thinkin 1 more 3 game losing streak for the nucks this season and u could possibly kiss the post season good buy.

oh man ... that was like a week and a half ago... and since then .. the losing streaks hit 5 games ..

Canucks better get it together.. rite now theyre in the basement.

Wut ever happened to winning the division .

If they dont make the playoffs.. and BRIAN BURKE`s MIGHTY DUCKS do make it ........

fuck it could get nasty for Nonis + canucks management.

No shit, as much as I liked what Nonis did at the trade deadline I would still rather have Burke in charge. He is in my mind one of the best hockey people in the business.

^ duh look at the job he is doing with Anaheim who has half the team the Canucks have in terms of pure firepower.

Our attack has gone from Jaws to Elmo.

We really should have picked up a centermen. I can't stand morrison. Even when he was doing good he still wasn't what you would call a #1 centermen. He can't even win 50% of his faceoff's.

At least Hendrik has about a 50% winning percentage.

In defence of Nonis you have to consider that now more than ever you just can not address every need of a club with the salary cap. Also who was available and what would he have had to given up. I guess one area to look at would be positional drafting versus just taking the best player available.

Yea but really we need a decent center.

I dunno I would have tried to get rid of morrison. Its obvious this team needs a shakeup.

The Canucks just look emotionless. Might even say souless.

Though in terms of defense i grade him an 8 for what he got for who or what *draft picks* he traded away.

Goaltending Noronan will play well. Just he hasn't really played since december of last year. He was AHL rookie of the year and he is a top prospect. but he was third stringer in buffalo.

If this year morisson doesn't improve i hope next year we get a serious shakeup for the canucks.

we need Salo and Jovo for the powerplay SO BADLY right now. Thats a huge hole thats showing
