A nice mirror! Seriously, they brighten up any room, and make it appear larger. Especially if you can find one with a really nice frame that goes with that person's style.

A nice bottle of hard bar or wine. Nothing like having a bottle of Scotch around the house but it's something a lot of people don't choose to afford. I mean who really wants new plates?

As lame as it sounds.... a gift cert to Home Depot. People who move into new homes always need stuff for fixing up, and it is super duper expensive.

a door mat! lol i want a new door mat...
i would straight up ask them what they need.. cuz it could be as simple as cutlery or cheap ikea stuff. gift cert to ikea, home store (the homewerks place on davie is amazing) would be ideal as well!

well. the best thing i could think of would be a gift certificate, that way they can buy what need, and not recieve something that they might already have or not need at the time.. But if you want to be more personal and would like to get them something i would say maybe ....... uhhh....... ummm.... a gift certificate.. sorry im no good at this

The thing about a gift though is that it doesn't have to be practical. People will go and buy what they need, a nice gift is often something they want.

I went to a house warming this past weekend. My friend just bought a loft. They had to repaint the place, and she had happened to mention how expensive just setting it up was.

For a gift I got her....

A glade thingy to help get rid of the paint smell that smelled like vanilla.
2 Gift Certificates to Home Depot.
1 Magazine on how to organize small spaces.

She was thrilled to tears.

My Mom just moved into a small apartment and had to get rid of a lot of really nice plants that took up way to much space. So I bought her a banzai tree. Maybe something along those lines???? Where are they coming from and where are they going? Maybe art work? Develop some pictures and frame them?

towels / shower curtain / bath matt
coffee maker or other small appliances

kinda depends what they have already, best thing to do is stalk them for a bit and look through their shit.

My friend just bought a house..and I wanted to get her a more personal gift..sooooo being that im crafty mccrafterson.. I got her a memory box to hang on her wall..and scrapbooked a page of pictures of her and I and put inside. The good thing about it is that she can take the page out and put whatever she wants in it if it isnt exactly her style.

I also bought a vase and then picked out some funky coloured stones and little fake plant and a fighter fish to go in it. And then I bought a plant and washed all the dirt off the roots and put it on top of the vase so that the roots are in the water. Apparently fish thrive in that environment..its easy to manage..and its pretty!

Good luck =D
