Mask:

Disillusioned by delicate
Crevices
Skillfully crafted-
With almond shaped holes.
Allowing the world to gaze on its beauty
Allowing a façade to hide the sadness
That often plagues her;
They call her
“Diamonds and pearls”
Fragments of gold embedded
It is just a vision – a crafted image of poise and grace;
Retaining perfection by masking imperfection
Tears stream -
But no one is aware.



Unmasked:

An Illusion of
Scars -
Skillfully placed;
Almond shaped eyes
Allowing the world to gaze on reality
Allowing everyone to see the sadness
That often enchants her
They call her
“Survivor”
Fragments of blood encrusted
It is a vision – a work of craftsmanship shaped by experience and pain;
Retaining imperfection by no longer attempting to mask perfection
Tears stream –
For all to see
