24 Hours (the daily paper)

basically aren't they just competing with themselves and declaring themselves the winner? :s

24 hours is trash talk about celebrities and other stuff

Metro reminds me of the province on a smaller scale

Dose I haven't really picked up to read, I will do that tomorrow :)

The Dose is my favorite one to read.

It's just hard to find it in Mississauga. The 24hrs is everywhere.

I read the Metro when I'm taking the bus.

I hate how the ink on 24 rubs off on my fingers. (Well, I don't know if it's still like that cause I haven't read one in a while, but they were like that when it first came out).

Now it's the only one that doesn't get newspaper print all over your hands, which is why I grab it on the way to work in the morning. Sometimes on my way home I'll grab a Dose (as long as I don't have to run for the bus).

dose is like one giant entertainment section. its good to read, if youd rather read about fashion and music than whats actually going on in the world

There are probably a few reasons why they have more readership:

- They use about a grade 6 level of english
- Its small and stappled together
- They have people harrassing you at every street corner

Whereas Dose (the better choice in my opinion)

- is not quite as available
- doesn't have a sports section
- doesn't focus entirely on the City of Vancouver; its a national paper
- isn't made with glossy paper (people seem to be more attracted to shiny things :P)

so i found out they aren't actually owned by the same people. pattison owns 24, the sun/province owns one of the other ones, and i don't know about the third but its not pattison apparently.

24 Hour is just a condenced verson of an actually highly reputable Canadian news souce. Its put out by the same people who put out the Calgary Sun, Toronto Sun, and Ottawa Sun.
Its not just a bunch of bloggers like Dose, and Metro.

I've never bothered looking at Dose but Metro and 24 Hours are for the most part sourced from AP and Reuters as are the others that were mentioned. Most news papers do this to a certain extent it's just that some have more of their own content.

All those papers are just so much worthless litter. Those paper-pushers are damn annoying too, sometimes three of them at one damn skytrain entrance. I hate it.

dose is fucking worse than reading us magazine...

but it's marketed towards 20-something hipsters so it seems plausible that it'd be a success on these boards.

only one i ever read is metro, just to get the ap/reuters feeds, but really i can get those off google news if i really wanted to. i never pick up new ones, just read one that happens to be sitting around on the bus or skytrain and make sure it eventually ends up in the recycling.

the only one i actually remove from the bins is georgia straight, and even that usually just to read savage love. otherwise i have books i can read.
