Dude. It would cost you like a 50 000 dollar down payment in order to pay that much a month. Most people who rent obviously can't come up with the downpayment. Renting has its ups too! To alot of people living in a place like downtown, paying rent beats investing in surrey.

Lauryn, I have seen a ton of basement suites going for 400-500 around here. But they're basement suites not townhomes. The person who lives here gets access to internet, gas fireplace, Laundry, Stainless appliances, and utilities are included. Plus you don't have to worry about "the people upstairs" I own this place and frankly theres no one besides the Po nine one nine that can tell me when to shut the fack up.

Definitely not anymore :(

I bought my apartment for 118, 2 1/2 yrs ago... Although it's now worth well over 200 I'm screwed to find a bigger place in the same area.

Strata rules would disable you from renting the entire unit out. But as long as you are living there they can not stop you from renting part of the unit to whomever you wish.

Depends on how you look at it.

I have a few clients that either are buying for an investment in this price range or can only afford to buy in this price range.

You aren't screwed.

The amount you make on your property should allow you to put a larger down payment down on your next property. Therefore your payments would be relatively the same or slightly higher.

It's all about taking baby steps and moving up gradually.
