roomate?
I need some advice.
I own a house w/ 3 bedrooms and one bathroom. Its about 4 years old but looks brand new now that I have painted it and installed new carpets. My question is what do I charge monthly for someone to rent a room. The house is half a block from the grocery store, restaurants, banks, bubble tea, the pub, and directly across from the library/rec centre. Its about 1100 sq ft. I'm pretty comfortable right now. I live alone and I manage to do well financially although I could definately do better. Anyways what do you think abot this situation? |

Mateo, I say furnish the room, and rent to students that go to Kwantlen. You live in Langley right?
If you furnish the room, it nets you more for rent. Also helps for short term stays in case you get stuck with a nutter. I have had my share of roommate drama. If you are not going to furnish it, and you are going to include something like utilities.....$550-600. If you furnish it, and you include utilities, you can charge $600-700 a month. Check www.myidealhome.com. You can see what is going in your area and for how much. |

BAHA
well I would love one but the only thing keeping me from getting someon i dont know to rent is the fact that strata doesn't allow me to legally rent the place out. Intl students probably need alot of information whereas I just want to let someone take the room and use the house. Thats why im opting for a friend. |

International students that are in university don't need a lot of info. There are a lot out there that will keep it all on the down low. |

I would say for a room only, 350 and if you include utilities then maybe 450, but I wouldn't say anymore than that. 700 is a bit much for JUST a room and they have to pay for food and what not. I dunno, it's up to you, but it's definitely a way to make more money!

I live at 168th/83rd and I rent a 3 bedroom basement suite..EVERYTHING included..for $800. I used to live two blocks away and paid $500 for a two bedroom.. Fleetwood is cheap. I dont think you can get away with more then $400. Even furnished. Good luck though =/ |
