First Canadian to die in the current war
:(
I went to highschool with him and his wife. They have a baby now and had been together for like 7 years! he went to fight and re build Afganistan in the war, and got ambushed. He was 22, first canadian soldier to die. Yep, Canada is fighting out there now! http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...hub=TopStories He was not ment to die this way. how are people meant to die then? is everyone supposed to pass away in their sleep the day after their 100th birthday? with no disease, without getting mowed down by a car, or a gun?
im sorry, i feel for you and your loss and his wife and baby and so on but im so sick of hearing about this. do u know how many other people die every single day and don't get any attention for it? some worse than this guy. he was very young and very brave, but he knew what he was getting into and the chances he was taking. |

sick of hearing about this? what death, so I shouldn't let his friends know, I shouldn't let Canadians know that the first one of our people died in this war because we have now been dragged into it. It's a heads up, could lead to people you know getting sent to war. So I better NEVER here you bring up a RIP about someone, it would be a bit hypocritical. R.I.P.
Although he is not the first Canadian Casualty in the Canadian Military Effort in Afghanistan. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/af...2002-2005.html Pte. Braun Scott Woodfield was the first Canadian killed in Afghanistan. |

omg you totally dont know what im getting at. i have nothing against you saying that he was your friend and you miss him and i agree it is really really really sad that he has passed away leaving family and friends. i would do the same thing if it was my friend, and i dont mean any offense. all im saying is it would be really nice if everyone who died got the same kind of media attention and respect as he had. the words just werent right, im sure you would have understood if u knew me. |

I think the occupation in the middle east isn't helping anyone there, I think it is getting people more military obsessed here, and basically fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity. You're friend died in vain, he shouldn't have been there, and it's shitty he had to leave a family behind. I only hope their kid doesn't get suckered into thinking that they need to reap vengence for their fallen father and make the same mistake he did. RIP. |

he speaks the truth.
for Krisimata The reason these military deaths are a big deal is because the blood is on all our hands so to speak. In theory we have the ability to decide if we should be there or not by voting for the appropriate government. We live in a country where we can openly critisize and let the government know our thoughts via protests or whatever. So while I don't think one death is more important than the other, I do think that its good to hear about the ones that all of us have the option to help stop. |

i never asked him to fight for me. it was his choice. im not saying his death is justified, im just saying that who knows that the guy in the beamer that was killed in a car crash wasnt just as much of a hero? but we may never know if he was or not becuase he doesnt wear a uniform and hold a gun fighting for me and my country no one will ever win in an argument on war...just like war itself. |

Whoa...since when? I don't believe any of those wars have done/will do anything for me or my country, and I certainly know that even the people fighting believe that either. Any casualty of war is a tragedy. RIP. |

from this: so your comparing someone who could be out driving in the sunshine in their beamer and getting killed in a car crash to someone who died fighting for you and your country???? i never stated that war did anything for our country??!! i simply stated that he died fighting for someone else, whether it was for you, me, our country, someone elses country, he died in a terrible frightening situation that took courage and heroism to do! krismata is see where your coming from with the whole unsung hero thing but the point i was making was that HE was CLEARLY a hero so of course the media attention he gets will be greater! that was bad context to put it in.....'cause he wasn't fighting for me either senior! |
