as much as people want to make this about race...
if it was a young native woman from a wealthy family who was not known to police who was snatched at gunpoint on broad daylight in front of her boyfriend on a busy street in a wealthy neighbourhood and her family kept making emotional appeals to the media and releasing vidoe tapes it'd be just as much front page news. the fact is that "drug addicted street level prostitutes disappear and become the victims of foul play" isn't exactly news to anyone, at least not until the words "serial killer" come in to play. " wealthy 23 year olds abducted at gunpoint in front of witnesses in braod daylight" that's news, shit like that just doesn't happen. |

Aside from all the media attention this got, what about the huge police investigation this was given. It was called the biggest single investigation in Vancouver History. 200 police officers to raid some houses is ridiculious, this would have never gotten this much attention if it was a normal family. And to make matters even worse, the dad doesnt even pay his taxes as reported he owes the government almost a million dollars in tax money. That is sad knowing that I pay my taxes but if I got kidnapped I wouldn't get this much attention but they did.
