Right Hand Drive?
Is there anyone out there who has a good amount of experience on RHD?
I want to import a 300zx/skyline, but the RHD sorta scares me. Im in Vic now though, the traffic is definitely more chill than Van so I didn't feel it would be a huge issue. Thoughts? |

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @ myles
i see someone hit the big score in replica watches? ps i'd say victoria is worse for rhd cars. the streets are hella narrow and there's lots of fuckin old people not looking where theyre going |

Good lucking getting a skyline into the country. You think you're the first punk kid with a bit of cash to try?
Keep us up to date with how that one goes. As to your question, i'd sit in the car for a couple hours and practice shifting without going anywhere so you don't pop it in to 5th when you're trying to go to first. Learning to drive right handed stick is like learning to masturbate with your left hand. Good luck. |

www.scimotors.com is one company out here that comes to mind.... older skylines are like civics in japan, they are a dime a dozon.. as far as driving, the only thing Id worry about is left hand turns when you dont have a dedicated signal...especially if youre in a dumped car and cant see whats coming becuase of someone also turning at the other side of the intersection. |

not that i'm advertising or anything...... and with RHD, it comes naturally, i got it under control in an hour. Your only tendency is to drive in the middle of the road because you're used to positioning yourself near the middle of the road but you need to get used to hanging way far on the outside. But like i say, it comes quickly...shifting with your left hand is easy pie. |

thanks for the promo Jeff =)
There are a few things to be aware of when driving RHD. We've put together a FAQ on the most common questions asked: FAQ: Driving RHD (Right Hand Drive) There are many advantages to buying a Japanese market vehicle, I would suggest downloading our quick start guide to importing a Japanese vehicle. It should give you a good foundation. SCI Motors is a solid company if you're looking for a Skyline and want to buy one localy, I would start there. If you can wait 4-6 weeks in exchange for saving thousands then look into buying your own car from Japan through a broker like us (Terra2) who can lend their expertise in picking the right car and register it for you making the entire process painless. (We literaly take care of everything and drop the car off on your driveway registered and ready to insure) PS: GoodFlow, mention wizzfish if you buy a car from Terra2 Imports so he can get his referral fee of $100 bucks. =) Last edited by alkatraz; Apr 17, 06 at 12:28 PM. |

i've driven rhd skylines, silvias, fairlady's and honestly i'd rather just stick to the lhd cuz thats what we have here.. its just another oppurtunity for you to get in an accident.. then again if u want a skyline.. then ur gonna have to do rhd unless u do a swap... but as for 300zx's and silvias u can get the usdm version and do some conversions for the looks :)

meh these cars are so played now. every kid has one now, and they all look the same. bone fucking stock.
it's not even the nice skylines that are available yet anyways. why the jap market? there's tons of dope ass euro shat to import from early 90's. YOU don't even have to import it. i've seen more then a few locally for sale after the kid realizies what a bitch it is to maintain a skyline. |

I have had over a year of experience driving in my Nissan Silvia, around town. and its right hand side.
For me now, i can drive both, its basically the same, stay in the middle of the lane, which is very easy. the only difference is your on the right side, and if its stickshift, the stick is in the middle. Thats it, the key is the same, the knobs are the same. ever drive in a one way street in downtown, its nearly similar feeling. |

but like i said im not goin for the skyline im prolly gunna get 300zx cuz there's some issues with importin skylines kelly - no worries kevin knows i want one we were thinkin of importin both at the same time who knows what i'm gunna do, i might end up just doin local cuz my rates are so bad right now with Insurance it might end up costin me 300 a month just to insure the fuckin thing. |

my friend bought a 89 or 90 skyline and swap the engine with a newer twin turbo gtr engine. he has about 450 at the wheel rite now. he bought it for about 20 something and another 8 for the engine and thousands of $ for other parts for his car. its such a light car too. i think he spend all together around 40-50 grand. he never drives it too.

I'm potentially looking at a celsior, or maaaaaybe a 4 door skyline....but the celsior's the same as the LS400 over here, it's just i'm not too sure if i want to leave the 'sporty car' area and go for something big, four door, and luxury.
I want luxury and sporty :( thus im tempted for a VIP styled 4 door skyline...but then again, the issue of parts availability is what holds me back. *pets 240sx* |
