Rooney will be playing don't you worry.. his injury takes 6 weeks to heal, he'll probably be back in 5 joining the team after they play a couple games

That's not really the word around here (and trust me, no country is examing the situation in more painstaking detail). 6 weeks is a bare minimum. Plenty of people have had this injury before and taken a lot longer, including Michael Owen who apparently still isn't 100% despite having a similar afflication a long time ago.
As a reporter commented (paraphrasing): "I too have broken my foot in this way, and it was several months before I could even WALK, let alone think of engaging in a football match" There's talk of not even bringing him in the final 23, which would fucking suck but it is a possibility. Apparently in another week or two they're going to have another xray to see how it's healing, and the decision on whether or not to bring him will be based on that.

i'll let u know now ... i go major w/ the AVS in hockey New England Pats w/ NFL (since 95!) Argentina w/ Soccer -- cant say much about baseball and basketball .. but always been a huge Jason Kidd fan .. so NJ Nets if any one else.

his doctors are saying he can speed his recovery by goin in a hypobaric chamber like machine .. but poor guy is apparently very claustraphobic... i think he'll be fine tho .

There's a bunch of fresh stories here in the UK with Sven going on about how positive he is about Rooney's chances to be ready, but Goran-Eriksson's always been naively positive about pretty much everything, so that kind of doesn't mean jack. He's getting re-examined by doctors on thursday or friday.. that will be a truer test one way or the other.
