If they are ciclids yes, the water must have a heater. No matter what type of fish you decide to get, please, please do not put them in a bowl. Make sure you have a properly sized tank and proper filtration.
With some patience, money and time you should be able to set up a tank that needs minimal work. |

Well okay, so apperantly everyone with Google is now a Marine Biologist~
By the way, I'm the current owner of these fishies that are trying to make their way to a good home :)~ Heated tank? as long as the tank isnt kept in your back yard, these guys are survivors :p I've actually had them a little longer then 9 months now... Something to make very clear very fast is that these are NOT, and I do repeat N-O-T saltwater fish... If you put these guys in saltwater they will be belly up in a matter of seconds. They are very active little guys who do like making little nests, but they playfully move around quite a lot. As for keeping proper alcaline levels - Ever heard of Polaris water? evian? ANYTHING FILTERED? lol... I refill their tank with nothing but filtered water (like the 18 gallon bottles you can buy for 4 bucks each), and I have the most amazingly habitable and clean tank. As to their proper breed, I dunno... they are not exactly goldfish, but they are not tropical and are remarkably easy to keep. They will do best in a tank with a water filter, but they will survive nicely in a LARGE bowl if you throw in a coupla snails to clean their habitat. For those of you who feel you are enlightened as to fish, because someone you know once owned one... You are invited to live in my closet and watch as these fish dont miraculously die every day... That way I can also poke you with sticks for my own enjoyment. For those of you who have serious enquiries as to these lovable little aquatic chubs, please let my girly G!ggles know. :) |

^you comments about filtered water and alkalinity levels already show your understanding of aquariums and fish is sub par at best. Nevermind the fact that you actually think that these fish would be ok in a bowl.
Alkalinity is a measure of the ability of a solution to neutralize acid without changing the pH. Regular filtered drinking water does not buffer the water enough. Quote:
I think its great that your trying to send these fish to a good home but what I don't like is the fact that you act like you know what you are talking about when you really don't. |
