When you first get the hair coloured, either home or salon, avoid rinsing the color completely out. By that I mean, don't continue to rinse your hair till the water is clear. There should still be a tint to the water. Also, try to rinse it out with cooler water than hot.
Once your hair is coloured, you should try to avoid washing it for a few days. This will set the color, the longer it gets a chance to set, the longer the color stays. As everyone has said here, avoid washing your hair everyday. I try to go 3 days if I can. Lastly, product that does work are Bumble and Bumbles colour specific shampoo/conditioner. But my personal favorite is Pureology. The best product by them, is their leave in conditioner with the SPF in it. It protects the colour from fading and getting sun damaged. |

I would have to look at the box, but from what I remember of their colours, they aren't even close.
The deep purple is technically going to be a cooler colour, where the reddish purple will have warm undertones. If you are a cool person(colour wise) then I would say to go for the deep purple. But if not, you might find that it really washes you out. So I recommend the redder of the two. I find the majority of people look better with warmer undertones. |

My brother had purple/black hair for years, the key is this little tiny bottle of clear solution from Goldwell. They have them in most salons, it's a color protector that you use every 2nd shower or so. It protects color for up to 2 months. You can also buy a shampoo from Goldwell that is the same color as your highlights, and it will "replen" the color a little after every shower.

I had that Goldwell product, and used it for my red on top for a long time....but I found after a while it turned my black very red too. Which I didn't like, so I stopped using it.
The bumble and bumble stuff only targets the color it is meant to target. As for stripping the color, I have no idea, I have never had to do it before. |

According to Google, stripping hair colour is quite the process. In some cases, may need to be done in several sittings.
I think they take bleach and work the colour out. The higher the volume bleach, the higher the potential for damage. So you can do it with lower volume bleach, but it will take longer to do, and in between sittings you will end up with that poopy-outhouse-ugly-ku-ku-poo-poo colour that you hate. The benefit to the low volume is the potential for less damage. The benefit to the higher volume bleach, is skipping the whole poopy-outhouse-ugly-ku-ku-poo-poo colour step. |

I think my hair is long enough that I would still have length to it even after a drastic cut. |

Thanks :) Edit - ok i Googled it and found a few stores out there that had it. *lol* But some opinions would still be helpful :) Last edited by g!ggles; Jun 16, 06 at 09:02 AM. |
