you can shower, just don't wash your hair every day.
you can try getting those colour shampoos made for certain colours but i think thats all a cash grab. any shampoo that is for colour treated hair should work fine. if you get your hair professionally dyed, ask your colourist about any tips he/she may have. if it's out of a box, try out different brands as they all can last for different amounts of time |

Kat wash your hair in cold water. It keeps the color in longer. Also, I use to use the Pantene Pro V Red Shampoo which was alright. It didnt really do much but it helped a bit. Also try not to wash your hair every day. You can have showers *lol* but just try to minimize it down to about 1-2x per week. You will notice a difference in the color for sure. :)

However this thread was about red hair so I gave my too sense. I've had red hair for years and have learned the hard way how to keep it looking new without dying it again. There was also this thread as well. Maybe there are some tips here too.... http://www.fnk.ca/board/showthread.php?t=91887 |

I have copper and auburn in my hair (this is newly coloured as of yesterday). I have had reds/oranges in my hair for the past year or so as well and I've found that Wella brand colour preserving shampoo helps A LOT. It's about $13.50 for a bottle at some salons (in a red bottle). I also have used a Goldwell brand colour treatment that is meant for red/or copper (they have them for brown and blonde) - both the shower and leave in stuff...this you can find at salons as well. Thos have worked for me so far. Unfortunately salon hair products are costly.
