oh man that was insane! I swear as soon as we won the drivers of all the public busses just stopped mid street got out and started partying. People took over dancing on the buses, swimming in fountains etc. Almost the entire city was outside, 2 million people or something.

freakin photobucket is retarded, it only uploaded part of my photos. Here are a couple shots of the circo massimo when Italia won the shootout. I got some better picks and some videos too....probably about 100,000 people in that circus field.

Paris-based anti-racism advocacy group SOS-Racism issued a statement Monday quoting "several very well informed sources from the world of football" as saying Materazzi called Zidane a "dirty terrorist." It demanded that FIFA, soccer's world governing body, investigate and take any appropriate action.

FIFA, which reviews all red cards at the World Cup, would not comment on the specifics.

"This is a disciplinary matter now. I can't give any statements now," FIFA spokesman Markus Siegler said.

Materazzi, meanwhile, was quoted as denying the terrorist comment

"It is absolutely not true, I didn't call him a terrorist, I don't know anything about that," the Italian news agency ANSA quoted Materazzi as saying when he arrived with his team at an Italian military airfield.

"What happened is what all the world saw live on TV," the Italian player said, referring to the head-butting.
I have no doubt in my mind that the Italian soccer team is more than capable of commiting yet another fouled, dirty play simply to win.

Take a look at that dive vs Australia.

Pathetic beyond words.

Enjoy your win.

A lot of people might jump all over this, but I'd be inclined to wait until we hear from Zidane himself before accepting this as gospel.

Actually what i feel now is the whole basis of soccer being a not so great sport in North America to North Americans.

Too much diving and cheating, too much rigged games, too many officiating calls which seem like the refs are paid off. Too many girlie soccer players flailing like their legs are made of toothpicks, falling like the ladies they are.

1)The games seem rigged from the start, depending on referee bias.
2)Then it depends entirely on how the ladies are at acting.

1)HOw many times have i seen this WC be decided by goals that a bias ref allowed through a missed call, or a totally unfair made call?
2)How many times have I seen a WC game be decided on a goal made from a call by a dive?

Its the ref and how well you dive, thats all i learned from this years World cup. I hope they seriously crack down on this next world cup, and kick some of these refs in the ass when they screw up bigtime. FIFA is not going to have much of a respectable face to put in soccer if things liek this keep getting worse. Theyve already proclaimed this years WC as the worst in near history, with all the diving, red cards and general dirty play.

save the fucking drama you little queen.

it's only amplified because world cup is the only game going on for the whole damn month and entire countries are watching as opposed to cities.

hindsight's 20/20 and so is super slow motion replay from 15 different angles. refs are human, humans make mistakes. so if we throw you out there you'd never make a mistake? please think before you cry.

by the way which is to blame? the diving? the red cards or general dirty play?

how about a little from all 3.

btw: you can shit on italy for the austrailian thing, but i guess KOREA would never benefit from a bullshit red card against their opponent right? i mean you must remember last world cup when KOREA benefitted from a bullshit red card against italy. and KOREA one of the host nations got to advance at the expense of big bad italy. i'm sure KOREA would gladly give back that tainted win. right?

I was gonna say the same thing, so my thoughts exactly...
Every team/fan is screwed by a call somewhere along the line

I still do beleive Italy played the best football and deserved this world cup

*ps I think the 4th star will look brilliant above the Italian crest.

Agreeing with the 2 posts above me.

All this complaining about referees and cheating, yet you can't say there were many teams that didn't deserve the outcomes they got. Maybe Argentina and Australia deserved a little more, maybe Portugal deserved a little less, but in the end quality teams made it through, BS teams were shown the door.

Such is the focus on World Cup that it becomes a tempest in a teapot.. journalists need a "story" to write about, so they manufacture controversy at any given opportunity.

Some of the refereeing in the earlier stages was shitty, and those refs, like the shittier teams, got left behind. In the later stages, for every dive that got a free kick, there were 5-10 where the ref ignored them and play continued.

Questionable call nonetheless, its the head stuck so far up your ass Italian soccer attitude that got me.

Quote:
At the time, Ahn was on loan at Italian league side Perugia. His extra-time header dumped the three-time champions from the World Cup. The next day, Perugia owner Luciano Gaucci was quoted by the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport as saying, "I am not going to pay the salary of a guy who has been the ruin of Italian soccer."
Then they expel him from Italian soccer because he scores the winning goal. Way to be a sore loser and show poor international sportsmanship.

That ref has a face that you just dont question. Lest he devour you and your soul simultaneously.

.
Grosso´s penalty against Australia..... Oh my god, I really must say, because of that call for us we did not deserve the cup... we were just fucking lucky and we should be ashamed for getting a penalty in the last minute of the game.
Ass Italian soccer attitude.... may I remind you we are the 2nd country after brazil, with 4 cups!! In the last ten years, look at the teams in the champions league semi finals, how many were Italian teams.
May I also remind you we were in the 94 final, 98 quarters and 06 ... you know I guess... So please a bit of respect for this soccer country.
You cheer for Korea, right?? I only know what they did in 2002 and this year, I don´t know alot about korean soccer history, sorry.
2002: you got to the match against italy, you played well, had 60000 supporters on your side, you really did play well, and then byron moreno... need i say more? don´t tell me you didnt pay him. Then quarter finals against spain... that call where the ball was not over the line and spain would have scored... rememeber that call ?? you would not have gona to the semi´s.... Anyway, you did play well, I admit, you did so 2006, too
but fucking stop complaining about referee calls..As a Korean fan, fucking Stop complaining about referee calls.

AHN, the star in 2002 , he played for Perugia... The owners... the gaucci family. Do you know them ?? you just know they are Italians and therefore generalize that shit saying italians kicked ahn out of their country... All of us did, right. Well then look where Luciano Gaucci is right now and what he is sued for. And what he did. Then compare him to italy again.

Anyway, Chuck, I respect your team and I admit they played very well...
At least admit this Wc wasn´t full of shit and bad calls... in my opinion it wasn´t the best WC, but I saw some good games and excellent goals ( few goals overall unfortunately for the defensive attitude of most teams)
and admit Italy deserved this cup and didn't play that bad. Otherwise I can just laugh at you and think you are just sick of envy, which is a very bad thing...

When i generalize about poor refereeing calls, i mean in WC games as a whole, not specific to Italy, although some of hte worst ref offences have gone in Italys favor. True however, thats how the cookie crumbles, sometimes the call goes your way, sometimes not, as you guys have said.

You Italians seem so ready to stick up for the calls you guys had, referencing the Koreans 2002 WC run. Do you guys have any idea, how hateful, spiteful, arrogant, snobby and plain disrespectful most Italians were after that to Koreans? Ive seen plain out racism, hatred and ignorance online, in forums, in person etc etc by Italian fans for the last 4 years crying about 2002.
So dont get too upset when i feel the need to point out that the same shit just happened to you guys.

Theres so many teams that get shafted due to diving and poor refereeing that it bothers me. For a championship this large in the international scale, and when you only get 1 stinking game to lose every 4 years, I think its fair rationale to be upset when your team gets shafted due to a dive or bad call. THis isnt something you repeat next year and shrug it off like NHL hockey. THis is once every 4 years, and you only get 1 game or your gone!

I get your point, but don´t generalize it. I know we were upset and of course some idiots use being upset for racial or antisocial provocations,
but from your posts above I kind of get angry at you... you don´t have to give back what they did to you... you said the same shit happened to you guys. i strongly disagree, what byron moreno did and the ref when you played against spain can not be compared to the penalty we got against australia ( as a matter of fact, that is the only thing we can discuss about during this WC for italy. A penalty against Australia, which in my opinion would have created more discussions if it weren´t given.
And if you say most italians were disrespectful: I don´t think against Koreans, we were disrespectful ( I admit ) and full of hate against the referee Byron Moreno from Ecuador... that fucker, as a matter of fact, was disqualified by the South American federation for his bad calls after the WC, because he was paid to let a team win. After he returned from Korea, he bought himself new cars, a house , and lived like a king. Of course that gets us angry.
I don´t see a point in your anger... just because you didn´t even make it to the K.O. games. Don´t get too spoiled, in 2002 you had a good team, a very good coach ( hiddink), played well, were supported by your fans and made it to 4th place... this year it didn´t go too well, we will see 2010.

Ok in general then, bringing up the 2002 situation with the "paid ref" situation, wouldnt you say that that also contributes to my stance that I think thers too much insider jobs in WC soccer? Biased refs etc etc?
Thats pretty much what im talking about....refs who seem paid off or biased. It creates this whole antagonistic situation where the games all seem superficial because they were rigged from the very start.
But this is nothing new, im venting old news that everyone already knows.

And in regards to Italians slamming on Koreans, heck ive had to explain a billion times to blame the ref not the people. You are reasonable in your disgust for that ref, because he also is cause for concern, once again in my opinion to match swindling. I admit i get a bit riled up because of many past negative encounters with many Italian soccer fans who have been less than respectful (to put it nicely) to my nationality.
