mountains around Sooke on the island are rather stellar. At the peak of Mt. Wells there's a bunch of little nooks and great places to set up a tent. Also some good trees at the top of rock faces along the side if you happen to have any rock climbing gear.

i know of like a billion spots on the island if you don't mind taking a ferry.

i have gone to Hicks every year( that i have been in the ountry) for the last 10 or so and never had a problem. it is beautiful, though is provincial so you will have to deal with the rangers, cant wrangle your own wood( ie: chop down an old dead tree) or party too late. great spot though.

i also recommend Jones, and Chilliwack river/lake area.

Jones lake is so awesome, sandy beachs you camp on.. and far enough away from civilization that cells dont work, yet close enough that you can go for a beer run if needed !! Last year I layed out all night on the beach watching a meteor shower, so beautiful

yeah i grew up at chahalis. it is without question my fav place on the entire earth. esp the canyon part where you can hike up and catch a veiw of the bridge and deep pools down below.

when i die that is where i want my ashes to be spread.

anyways hicks lake looks good..what are the fee's? id like something free if possible.

its only for one nite saturday sunday with my gf.....so really its just a nice outdoor area to pitch a tent have a nice fire and drink some beers, no swimming or anything

thanks for the replys guys...keep them comming everyone!:)

Do jones lake then, Its not buisy at all and free.. really nice place, its right between chilliwack and hope. Youll need a pretty sturdy car/truck though, its quite the bumpy ride up that mountain.

lol my dad took his firefly up there a few times until he blew one of the rings on the piston.... Being a 3 cylinder engine he managed to make it back to abbotsford on 2 pistons however the smoke trail he was leaving behind looked like a performance from the snowbirds lol....

jones lake is the shit! we stumbled across that one hot summer day.

also theres a place called lake in the woods. some lady friends and myself were drivin home from a cabin and it felt like it was 110 degrees out, saw some water, pulled over, and stripped as we ran for the lake. it was one of those beautiful scenic lakes, had a huge log going out that you could jump off of, perfect tempurature.

Oh yeah thats a really nice looking lake on the way home from hells gate. I used to jump off of that log too haha. But the last time I went there, we went to the other side of the lake where there is all the rocks and there were these sick ass sucker fish ALL over the the place, I had to wear my shoes cause it was so digusting.. I dunno if it was just the rock area or what, but I dont think ill go back there.
