Hey Frog,
I find it somewhat odd that it's you asking this question, seeing as you were less than amenable to Wickedhouseparty or it's events when Wickedhouseparty was in operation; however I do find it an erie coincidence that I was sitting back, enjoying a rum and coke, reflecting on the days of Wickedhouseparty when I decided to check in on FnK (which I do very rarely these days) and saw your post. Wickedhouseparty has been officially deactivated. I'm sure some people will be jumping on their toes at the news (though god knows why someone would be so happy at the dismantling of a group dedicated only to bringing free or dirt cheap electronic music events to the scene and allowing new DJs a chance to ply their trade in front of people), as well as the Wickedhouseparty core who with somber dissapointment noted the end of an era for all of us. Wickedhouseparty hosted over 600 events, big ones and small ones, in Vancouver, Seattle, Toronto and Helsinki, and for all of us the gatherings will be very much missed. However we've all grown older, moving into our careers, and in our quest for a non drug-centric scene that is more mainstream (not to be confused with the underground scene which is another beast altogether) have just basically moved on in life. Personally, I'll miss the great people who I met in person but never spoke up online, and wont miss the seemingly never ending skirmishes online with people who almost seemed to be paid to curse us online. I've had chats with other promoters from here to Miami, and it seems the once PLUR counter cultural rave scene across the continent was plagued by a counter culture within a counter culture that reaped it's soul. Understanably, there's a new scene now, a new generation that will take things forward in whatever way it chooses. Despite the brutal personal attacks, I'll always be proud of all the friends that were made through Wickedhouseparty by myself and others, all the fantastic DJs that we let play, of which many are still not noticed despite their technical talent and skill, as well as the accomplishments of a group that was very tight and had a very much broader audience than the skirmishes on this board ever revealed; that never intended to make a dime off the people who supported it. Wickedhouseparty cost me probably $10,000 or more as I put a lot of my own money into it over the 6 years it was in operation, but I didn't mind because it was a labour of love and I enjoyed *almost* every minute of it. Kudos to: Those people who put so much time and effort into Wickedhouseparty, and stuck with it even when the going was very tough, and who attended our events in support of the food bank and the scene itself. Sour Rasberrries to: Those people who never attended a single event of ours, never even met me (despite my offers of buying them a beer to work things out), but despite this ensured they found the time to say nasty things online day after day. Peacout you many people I met, so many of you are so great, and to the scene itself, in order to be everything you can be, you must not allow those few bad apples to poision the beautiful music you love. In peace, in love, in unity, in respect, I bow out; and those of you who I met and the great times we had will be very much missed. |

^*snap!*
I remember Kent wanting to go and slag the WHP @ Tribeca, one night, on our way to another event. Myself and the chick that was with him tried to dissuade him, to no avail. So, we went. Poor Ish. There was NO ONE to berate! There were 6 people there! Us, the bartender, the "dj" and the guy at the door who simply looked at us as we walked in. But, DAMN! THAT was a Wicked House Party! Frosty (shakes head, again) |

Ever tried to have a conversation with a person that gave you one liners? She asked a question and he responded. So what if he responded in detail, why does it bother you? |

Maybe he doesn't wanna be a 30 something year old going through a midlife crisis and working a job in a club that probably pays minimum wage? |
