I'm not really sure what diplomacy is going to really do to solve anything.
To save two soldiers, Israel has killed 45 Lebanese civillians. Clearly they're all about the 'principle' in this one. Anyways, to say it's going to escalate into a world war might be a bit of a stretch, I'd say it would turn out that way maybe if a leader of either side was killed. This happened in 1993 and it lasted seven days, although it only ended because the USA of all nations negotiated a ceasefire. Obviously because the USA is now vetoing the UN resolution we won't see a repeat, it still won't escalate into a full scale world war. |

More like shoot first, then if anyone asks any questions, shoot them till there's none left. I want Myra to be right, I hope she is, but wishful thinking can only go so far. Something's around the corner and it ain't pretty. |

The situation between both sides is getting tiresome. Both play the blame game, and use it to gain sympathy and support for their side. Yet, it never seems either side is willing to be accountable for their own actions, always quick to point the finger the other way. When folks keep dwelling on the past like this, they'll never be able to move onto the future.
Sadly, the only reason the whole world will get dragged into this mess is due to the developed world's interest in some sort of stabililty in the region for their own reasons. Were this same kind of conflict being played out in two backwater African nations, no one would give a rat's ass. |

Harper just described the Israeli response to the kidnapping as "measured", (perhaps in liters of enemy blood?), and dusted off the old chestnut about Israel having the right to defend itself. God bless our Prime Minister |

This hits fairly close to home. My roommate and close friend grew up in the UAE and Lebanon, and almost his whole family is there right now, taking cover in a bombshelter somewhere near Beirut.
I know it's not the fairest statement, but right now I don't care: FUCK ISRAEL. |

diaphorrhoea: I can understand the sentiments, but remember war begets war, if you are defending yourself, there is no need to cater to angry rhetoric, even if you are right. It just creates more division, and that's not what we need right now, we need justice, and peace.
