Imagine a larger pot of boiling broth that sits in the middle of your table -- you can order this broth in many flavors - straight chicken broth, satay style (that's my fav), hot and sour, thai (that shit is fricken hot), etc.
From the menu, you then order various types of raw meats - beef, pork, chicken, etc. Seafood - prawns, scallops, etc. Vege's - bok choi, lettuce, corn, etc. Staches: various types of noodles (Udon, etc.), won-ton's, etc. and lots more.
Once it comes to the table you put these things in the broth, cook it and then eat it almost like fondu style. You also have a sauce that is either made or provided for you.
