it has mostly to do with aglo-saxon related last names. i'll give you the same advice i gave our cheery yellow friend above you: google your last name or look up ______________ family tree/crest/history.

turns out there is actually no such thing as a "family crest". crests were awarded to individuals rather than surnames. so someone with your last name might have had that crest or coat of arms sometime ago, but it doesn't necessarily belong to your family. a lot of sites and companies won't tell you this so that you'll buy a copy of your crest or whatever. i found this out when i was planning on getting my "crest" as a tattoo, but i'm reconsidering after learning this.
