Transformers Review
Easily the best action movie of the summer. I liked it better than Die Hard to some extent. Quite simply its Bad Boys with giant robots. Its equal parts action and comedy. An endless supply of smart one-liners and little easter egg references to the original series kept the movie entertaining without taking itself too seriously; I mean shit, its a movie about giant robots from space, right?
I was afraid this movie would suck with some of the casting choices that were made, like Bernie Mac as a used-car dealer, for instance. Thankfully, I was wrong for the most part. The humorous parts were meshed well with plenty of well planned out action sequences that did not fail to impress. The only cheese in this film was the acting of John Turturro as some secret government agenct (this part was horribly cheesey), but if you can ignore this, you will enjoy the movie thoroughly. Go see this movie. |

Anybody catch that trailer premiering with Transformers? Its shot with a handycam at some guy's going away party and turns into some kind of apocalypse clip in what appears to be New York City. Whole buildings burst into flames and you can hear something unseen roaring in the distance. It almost looked like a Godzilla movie. I don't think it even had a name attached to the trailer or maybe I was just so much in awe that I missed it. Anyway, somebody tell me what this movie is or link me to the trailer, it looked really cool. I couldn't find info on this movie anywhere.

Regarding CLOVERFIELD And THE DARK TOWER!! -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news. " So what is CLOVERFIELD? Well, word from inside the company is that CLOVERFIELD is a giant monster movie, featuring something that's being referred to internally as "The Parasite," and we’re going to see a trailer for it very soon that’s been designed and shot even as we speak. I’m not sure if it’s going to be attached to TRANSFORMERS or if we’ll see it later in the summer, but it’s definitely coming soon. And the end of it should feature one of those iconic images that makes people talk about a trailer for months. And what makes this different than any other giant monster movie? Well, as I understand it, most of the film is going to be shot using home video cameras, as if from the point of view of real people who are experiencing an attack on New York. It’s designed as a fairly small picture, all things considered, and right now, they’re working to make sure the script is going to deliver some wild thrills (like an earthquake that levels Manhattan or an oil tanker flipping over by the Statue of Liberty), but that it’s not suddenly going to turn into a giant $150 million movie. It’s a tricky balance, and if they pull off everything they’re trying to do, CLOVERFIELD could be something really groovy. Not a man in suit in sight." BUT... it's all about the Simpsons Movie preview "Spider Pig....Spider Pig" Last edited by dabbler; Jul 03, 07 at 06:27 PM. |

Went to the special screening at Silvercity Richmond last night courtesy of tickets from a good friend. Movie was outstanding in graphics. Storyline was decent too. Very action packed! A must see!!!
Highlights of the night: a. Attending the movie with Ferry Corsten and watching the fans flock to him after the movie Total rockstar! b. - How many ravers does it take to seat 16 people in a theatre? LMAO!! |

K here's my review...it may contain some spoilers
I have to say it turned out pretty good....it was pretty much exactly what i expected it to be....the special effects were amazing, the fights were good for the most part, except sometimes they were a little too shakey and close-up to see much......the story was decent....pretty cheesy dialogue at times with lots of cheap laughs, which i expected.....john turrtura, and that fat black dude who is in EVERY movie were both pretty annoying.......but overall it was entertaining.......my only gripe was it didn't really stick to a lot of classic transformer stuff.......aside from some of the story elements, and optimus prime's look, and voice.....there wasn't a whole lot that was similar to original transformers....all the decepticons were pretty much different except for starscream (who could have had more of an annoying voice like he did in the cartoon), and devestator as a tank was kind of lame overall i'd give it maybe a 7.5/10......it could have been a 9 or even a 10 if they had more stuff from the original transformer cartoons....like the classic transforming sound (which i only heard like once or twice), or even the classic intro....this would have made me shit my pants |

Dear Michael Bay,
I'm writing this letter as a sincere apology after accusing you of 'raping my childhood' approximately one year ago. I had just found out Bumblebee had been turned into a Camaro and had yet to hear about your licensing issues with Volkswagen (did they ever miss the boat on this one!). It seems that my rantings might have been just a wee bit premature. After seeing 'Transformers' it almost shames me to say that I had no faith at all that this flick would be worth watching. In truth, during the course of the movie I came twice, had approximately 74 minutes worth of goosebumps, said something along the lines of 'OH MY FUCK' or 'THIS IS THE COOLEST FUCKING THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE' at least 50 times, and openly wept due to sheer awesomeness an exact 12 times. I've since found out that there are to be 2 sequels which a few of the actors have already signed on for. That was my 3rd orgasm. While the flick wasn't always true to my childhood memories it had enough nostalgic reference to make me happy and enough jaw dropping moments to make me forget about the rest. Well done Mr. Bay. Sincerely, Shawn |

:P (Side note but I thought it was kinda funny and didn't want to make a new thread)
A letter to Optimus Prime from his Geico auto insurance agent. Dear Mr. Prime, We have received your accident-claim reports for the month of June—they total 27. I regret to inform you that GEICO will not be able to reimburse you for any of those repairs. I feel that I have sent the same letter to you once a month for the last six months, and I am now sending it again. Since becoming a GEICO customer in January of this year, you have reported 131 accidents, requesting reimbursement for repairs necessitated by each one. You have claimed not to be responsible in any of them, usually listing the cause of the accident as either "Sneak attack by Decepticons" or "Unavoidable damage caused by protecting freedom for all sentient beings." The only repairs for which you were reimbursed were the replacement of a cracked fender and a headlight, required after a Mr. I. Ron Hide backed his van into your truck; these cost $1,286.63. Our own investigation concluded that you were not at fault and that Mr. Hide had been drinking prior to the accident. Though police were unable to test his blood-alcohol level—Mr. Hide claimed that it would be impossible for police to examine his blood-alcohol content with a Breathalyzer, because he "doesn't breathe"—under Washington-state law, refusal to take a Breathalyzer test is equivalent to returning a result above the legal level. But, I repeat, those were the only repairs for which you have been reimbursed, and it was a very minor accident in comparison to your other claims. I mention a few to illustrate the larger trend:
To sum up, GEICO has been unable to reimburse you for any repairs, but due to the high number of accidents you have been a party to this month, combined with the many accidents you have had in the preceding five months, your premium has increased to $235,567.50 per month. While that may seem like a lot, I remind you that it is a savings of $137 over Progressive and $98 over State Farm. Please have your check into our main office by the end of July.
