Mario Kart Wii Hitting US on April 27
Mario Kart Wii will be racing into US stores for an April 27 release, Nintendo has announced.
The game will come bundled with the Wii Wheel, which Nintendo says “makes it easy for novices to compete against veterans”, and will support five different control schemes in total: Wii Wheel, Wii Remote turned on its side, Wii Remote and Nunchuk combination, Classic Controller and Nintendo GameCube controller.
Mario Kart Wii will feature 32 tracks, 16 new and 16 classic, ten battle arenas and a host of new characters, weapons and vehicles, including bikes for the first time in the series. Players can also take to the track as their own personalized Mii characters.
Multiplayer mode will support four-player local racing and twelve-player online games via Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection service. Basic text support between online players will be possible, but voice chat will not.
A Mario Kart Wii Channel will launch alongside the game. Accessible from the main menu, it will let players compete in tournaments, check worldwide rankings, see when their friends are playing and download ghost data.
Mario Kart Wii will be hitting European stores on April 11.
