for overall performance it has to be PS2
Xbox is great IF it happens to survive for long enough I've seen sooo many Xbox's get brought back in the last month to be fixed I think it was like 23-1 or something like that and game cube is going down the crapper it cant compete with Xbox or PS2 |

Best gaming platform is PC in my opinion. If you want a console, I'd say it is a draw between X box and PS2.
They have almost the same games as well. I like the Xbox because you can load your own music to listen to instead of game soundtracks. Vid's are that much better with vinyl syndicate in the background. If i were you i would just spend the money you saved on a top of the line graphics/sound card for your PC. |

Xbox by far! The launch boxes definitely had some problems... they featured a Thompson drive that failed quite regularly and it couldn't read burned cd's.
The new boxes, however, have a Samsung drive that can easily read burned cd's and has an extremely minimal failure rate. Keep in mind that launch versons of the PS2 had problems as well. Add on the fact that the box has an 8 gig hard drive for adding your own music, save games, and downloadable content for games you already own. Add on to that the fact that the Xbox live online system is by far the superior mulitplayer online system. No memory cards, no buying an add-on broadband adapter, no buying an HD.... the Xbox also features far superior graphics as well. Pick a game and compare PS2 to Xbox shots and you'll see.... edit - The new Xbox controllers are much more suited to smaller hands and to make sure you're getting a samsung drive in your new Xbox make sure the last two numbers of the serial number are either 05 or 06. but they are a shitty quality IF you do get a good one then its a GREAT system but they break down easily, which is definately the deciding point when I made the choice |

i have all three and recomend buying all three. i play them all about equally.
i like my xbox for live. i like my ps2 for the controller and huge library and rpgs. psx compatibility and an extra dvd player is nice too. i like my gamecube because they get the best exclusives, hands down. it all really is a personal preference between the extra features each system has, and the game exclusives each system has. after 10 minutes no one gives a fuck about system power or graphics capability. |

i'd have to choose xbox for the same reasons as cdn_brdr.
one big thing that gets on my nerves, a lot of the cross platform games are developed for ps2, then ported to xbox. and a lot of the time the ports overlook a lot of things like the higher processing power, the hard drive, and online capabilities. |

As hard as it is for me to admit, the Xbox is actually a better platform - its graphics capabilities are higher than the PS2, and it has a few features (like letting you load your CDs into its memory so that you can listen to them while you're playing a different game) that are nice. Plus, its cheaper.
BUT, I'll still vote for PS2. The controlers are more intuitively laid out for the PS2 (though they aren't as hot as the old 64 one for first person shooters) and the bottom line is that PS2 titles are much better (and tend to be aimed at an older audience) than X-box ones. |
