yes okay, there were parts that were typical...like the father trying to get to his son and all that stupid crap.
but here are the main differences between this movie and other american produced disaster films:
the main difference is that they did not come up with a way to 'beat' the problem. example:
Deep Impact and Armaggedon - blowing up the meteors
Volcano - deflecting the volcanic flow into the ocean
The Core - restarting the core of the earth by travelling to the centre of the earth and using nuclear weapons to start it spinning again.
Independence Day: stopping the aliens with a computer virus
in this movie they didnt' come up with some big plan to like re-heat the earth and save they day. they had to deal with mother nature being the winner. that's a VERY different thing from other disaster movies.
also, if you noticed there was very little american flag waving in this film. the vice president was made out to look like an uniformed asshole who then has to be humble at the end of the film and admit he and the american public were wrong for treating those third world countries badly because now they were all 'guests' in their country. if anything, it was a humbling movie for americans because they were beat by mother nature and then had to go and live in places that they used to build their Nike shoes.
yes u are rite but i wasn't really going about meaing everything was 100% the same as other movies.
ok maybe i jumped the gun by saying "everything" but if u catch my drift then there is no misunderstanding anymore. Maybe ill rephrase it to "it was pretty much ur typical american movie with a couple notable things by sidekick"
