Party Monster

Yeh, I've seen a thread about this already but that was BEFORE I watched it. Now that I have seen it I would like to say how much that movie ruled for all the right reasons. And if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it. Some of those costumes are pretty insane and look like they took a long time to do/make which would have to be the only unrealistic comment I would have to say about the movie because I don't think anyone would be all pro style like that. The costume I am talking about in particular is one that Seth Green was sporting, it was pink and yellow checkered I believe.

The costumes were done by former NY clubkid Kabuki. He was hired to keep the movie's "look" as close to the real thing as possible. Some of the costumes in that movie are remakes of actual costumes worn back in the day.

Just because no one dresses up up anymore doesn't mean it was always like that. You have to remember that that scene in NY at that point in time was ruled by flamboyant gay men. They LOVED to get as done-up as possible to try and out-do everyone else and be the most FABULOUS person at the party. No one takes the time to be FABULOUS anymore...It's really sad. Parties now are full of Hoochie/Chachi barstars in their little designer clubbing outfits. Even 6 years ago when I started partying you'd still see costumes (albeit not as elaborate as the ones in the movie). I still see cute little kandy-kid costumes everytime I go to Seattle. Some people still take the time to DO IT RIGHT!
