I think he is capable of making hits like night at the roxbury, and making films that spring from SNL,but he truly shines in his improve work, and i bet he'd own on the stage.

Will Ferrel needs better writers, frankly.

He's got masterful delivery. One only needs see Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back or the Matrix Reloaded thing for MTV to see that. He's got a great sense of comedic timing. Most everybody on SNL has to have that type of quality. But it just seems that more often than not he's given roles he can't work with that much.

Not at all. I haven't seen Punch Drunk Love yet, and I've seen a good number of good Sandler flicks.

But Big Daddy did not need to get made. And frankly, I think we can do without another one of those lethargic-no-goods-making-it-and-hilarity-ensuing movies, wouldn't you say?

The same can be said of Carrey. It was a neat schtick but it got stale _real_ fast.

I was watching Jim Carrey do his schtick a good 3 or 4 years before Ace Ventura was made. I was pretty happy with him in Man On The Moon because he was doing something different. Frankly, if I wanted to see the same old same old, I'd just watch Ace Ventura again, or catch some of the old In Living Colour reruns.

It's already proven that he can excel as a co-star. I think he can pull off being the star of a film in the right conditions.
