Sony PSP: PlayStation Pocket [Launch Mar 31st]
Ebgames is taking preorders for the new PSP that they supposedly will launch on March 31st. Here's a few things to know:
The price as of today is $250.99. This inculdes: An ac adaptor and battery. To show the system's size here's a side by side comparison to the DS: The Nintendo DS retails for 199.99. And has a game library so far of 9 games. Specs: Dimensions (WxDxH) 6.7 in x 2.91 in x 0.91 in Display 4.3" 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD Resolution 480x272 Colors 16.77 million colors Brightness 200 cd/m2 Game Media Format 1.8GB UMC disc I/O Connectors 1 x audio out, 1 x microphone, 1 x control connector, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x Memory Stick Pro Duo, IrDA, IR remote Integrated Communications 802.11b Wi-Fi Battery Life: 4 and 6 hours for games, with 4-5 hours for video viewing. I didn't put prossesor power and such because that wouldn't really mean much to most people. The key thing is that it's a tiny bit more powerfull then the PS2. But not in every way. Because of it's small size and display certian graphical features are going to be not as powerful. Launch Titles: In my opinion Sony is doing an excellent job with the launch. At least compared to Nintendo. Mercury Mercury is a throwback to the old game marble madness. Kinda. Your goal is to lead the blob of mercury to the end of the maze. You use the analog stick to move the maze around and roll your mercury. Coded Arms: Coded Arms is a FPS shooter for the PSP. The game takes place in a giant Virtual Reality, and you pick up weapons after you Decode them. The game also features 4 player wireless multiplayer. However the game is going to be realesed in the summer. Death Jr. A platformer from Kanomi. Looks pretty solid and was one of the first games announced for the PSP. Dynasty Warriors The Dynasty Warrior's series is nothing new. They are always very solid beat up games where you fight waves after waves of enemy opponents. However graphically this game looks excellent. But sadly has not multiplayer mode. Grand Theft Auto No details yet, but I thought some people would like to know that this is coming out. Not for a while though. Metal Gear Acid Metal Gear Acid is a game you'll either love or hate. It dosen't matter if you were a fan of the series because this is much diffrent. Instead of using stealth and puzzle solving skills you use cards. Each card in you deck represents items, characters and actions. You can use a limited number each turn, then your opponent gets their actions. A nice feature for the North American release is the addition of Muliplayer. I for one love card games. Need For Speed Underground:
If you've played any games from the series you know the deal. This has head to head multiplayer capability. NFL Street 2 Already avaliable on consoles. If you like sports games, uh this is one. NBA Street: Same as above. Ridge Racer It's a racing game. I'm getting tired of typing. YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS. Spiderman 2 Spiderman 2, like the console games is more of a free roaming afair, rather then the poorly done DS version. Untold Legends It's an action rpg/hack and slash. Apparently it's supposed to be pretty good. Wipeout Pure Wipeout pure motherfuckers. The racing game that always delievers a good time. Featuring head to head multiplayer, 3d graphics, yadda yadda yadda. If you haven't played this series before you should try it out. Tony Hawk Underground I'm not going to bother explaining this one. You should know it by now. Features for the PSP Some interesting features which will be ready on launch: Image Viewer Mp3 Player Movie Player These three require a piece of sony software to convert them to the proper formats and sizes. Wi fi multiplayer Rumored future features: Wi fi "hot spots" (http://hardware.gamespot.com/Story-ST-11721-1448-4-6-x) Cell Phone capability Streaming TV Voice text reading Voice chat PSP Web browser word processing spreadsheet software. http://hardware.gamespot.com/Story-ST-11721-1447-4-6-x http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/01...s_6116462.html |

Gamespot said not all of them had problems with the square button. I don't know if that'll change over time though.
I won't be one of the first to buy it if I do decide to get one anyway. So I'll hear from others if it's good or not. So far, I think it's good :D |

I got the chance to see it (probably from the same buddy, Kraig :p)
The NFS is cool as shit. Never seen such good quality from a thing of its size, and my gba was my best friend for a long long time. Definititely excited to get myself one, eventually. |
