gone in 60 seconds

this movie rocks, i've seen it quite a few times but there is one thing that i've been trying to figure out since the first time i've seen it. there is a lowrider in the movie. it's a deep purple/black with some flames on it and it shoots fire out the exhaust pipes. i thought it was a 1953 Hudson Hornet Coupe or 1950's Mercury (something). now i'm not confident on either model and i've tried to find it on the net and have had no sucess yet so i'm branching out and asking all if they could help.
