Because it's Disney. That being said, as far as Direct-to-DVD-pseudo-sequels go, this was probably one of the better ones.

I kind of like to think of it as "Timon & Pumba Are Dead".

This movie was on the golf network all day yesterday.
I think I watched it about 2 1/2 times. Classic cast, classic movie 10/10.
