Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I can't believe no one's posted about this. If someone has then, my bad hehe.
I want to make this short. The movie pretty much met my high expectations. I've never read the books, but for some reason I was REALLY excited for this one. We even got advanced tickets for it. While not being totally faithful to the book (according to my friend), this is understandable as the book was almost 1000 pages long, and the movie is only 2 and a half hours long. I agree with the director's decision to make it one movie as opposed to two, a la Kill Bill. The new characters are great. The action is perfect and never contrived. The storyline and plot is immersive. The magic is definitely there. I'll even go as far as to say that this is my favourite out of all the movies so far. The box office says the same, this having the best opening ($101 Million) of the 4 movies. The others were around $90 mil. Go see it! I know I want to see it again. |

^it IS out at the imax..
it was a great movie! lotsa magic..everything was really quick tho but i understand that they had to do that with the short amount of time they had to cover everything.. u can't expect them to cover everything in the book (even though it is my favouritest book of them all) but the dropping of some of the subplots will definitely alter the next few movies.. I wonder how they are gonna get around some of the stuff.. excited for the next book and next movie!!... |

The fact that they left out Percy as Barty Crouch's assistant pissed me off and the same with the entire plot involving Barty Crouch's fired house elf.
As said, it's understandable that certain things need to be dropped in order to keep the movie within a certain time limit but like Allison said... the lack of some of this sub-plot may come and bite them in the ass for the future flicks. |

I was at the midnight premiere in Vancouver where the film went up in flames 15 minutes before the end. I saw ground zero of terrifying 17-year-old Harry Potter fandom, and got to scream "You're all diseased" at a CTV camera. Totally enjoyed the movie, though the 400 banshee women in the theatre were a little much.
Cedric Diggory = Hot. Welsh-Chinese Girl = Hot. I also thought it was funny how they kept forgetting to hide Hermione's ever-blossoming bosom. By the time the next movie comes out, I'm going to feel like a total perv when I watch it. I just know. Best potter movie so far. Almost makes me want to read the series ;) |

totally fuckin loved it. seeing it again sometime this next week.
but like every other reader, im a little dissappointed with the missing subplots - especailly the rita skeeter thing. and there wasnt much dumbledore action. and sirius, we needed some more of him. and what about bill and charlie? bills gonna be important. understandbly they cant make a 5 hour movie.... but they should have played the whole fudge denying voldermorts return up, its not really acknowledge that much. i really cant wait till the next movie. and am totally pissed that this one came out in november as there wont be any boxing day sales of the dvd this year. this was my favorite book out of all of them, and im gonna do a little re-reading of it. order of the pheonixis gonna be some crazy shit. |

saw it on sunday and completely enjoyed it but (as has been said) I was quite dissappointed in the amount that had been left out.....having read all the books I know that alot of the stuff they left out will come back and screw them over in the next couple movies.....there was alot of important stuff that comes up in the next couple books that references things in goblet and only happen because of things that happened in goblet and alot of those things were left out of the movie or not explained enough.....I was however quite pleased with how they did alot of the new caracters even though they left out a few things that happen with some of them....all in all because of what was left out I'd have to give it an 8.5/10

Considering that this was the first Harry Potter movie that I've seen, I thought that a couple of the characters were nothing at all like I imagined. For one, I thought that Hermione was supposed to be a LOT uglier than she is in the movie, and that Fred & George were supposed to be less tall and gangly, and more short and stout. Also, I found that a bunch of the characters really didn't look their age - they seemed much older than they are supposed to be. Lastly, my image of Dumdledore really didn't go with who they chose either, but then I've heard that this actor was different than the others, so perhaps they didn't have much choice. However, dispite all that, I liked the movie, especially how they sped things up a bit (tho in some parts a little too much - like the World Quidditch Cup at the beginning, that left me going "wtf just happened?")
8/10 would be my rating! :) |

There's always a little bit of confusion with the movies. It all makes sense in the books. I was impressed with this movie. I especially liked how creepy Lord Voldemorts rebirth was. I guess this is what gave it the pg 13 rating? I thought the darker theme of the film made it more realistic to the plot. I thought it was great. Can't wait for the next one.
