Well, I've been promoting/throwing events a lot longer than I've been DJ'ing. I was encouraged by my friends around me, people like Deliverance, Azim and a few others to start DJ'ing myself. I started with Breakbeats and now find myself playing a lot of House. I'll play anything from those two genres so long as it has funky and live elements too it. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What type of music do you specialise in? See above. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it? Hmmmmmm... I guess it would have to be the FSUK 2 compilation that cost me I think it was $75US plus shipping. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What is your most treasured record and why? Too many to list. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Have you got any funny/horrific DJing stories? A few... all of them typically involve to much liquor! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What do you like the most about DJing? Having control of the vibe and energy in a space -- either it be at a party or a club night. Funk is REALLY good for this which is why I tend to stick with anything funky. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What does your DJ name signify? It's my first name. To my knowledge no other "Kraig" is DJ'ing in Canada and North America as far as I know. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Who are your influences /or shoutouts? Wow... LOTS... I've learned and taken something different from each of these people. I'll watch/listen to any and every DJ I see but the ones that come to mind are Krafty Kuts, A. Skillz, old skool Freestylers, Fort Knox Five, Matt the Alien, Czech, Vinyl Ritchie, Precise, Wood n'Soo (these boys know the funk and put it together really well) old Bassbin Twins, Deliverance (some of the best mixing), Hirshee, Christian Alvarez, Charlie Tuna, Dabbler/Matty Pacific/Jay Automatic (huge respect for holding down the DnB scene here), Arpy PH1, Alvaro Blueprint, Savio/Azim (partners in crime), Maggie (cuz we are always drunk asses and you slept with my girlfriend... that's so cool), Omega_Image/Cinto (the legend of CAK continues!)... There is more I just can't think of any right now. Although he is most passionate about the sound of Breakbeats, old skool Hip Hop and Funk, Kraig can also be found dropping the sweet sounds of soul, funk, electro and vocal House music all around Vancity at hundreds of clubs and parties. Kraig has residencies at CanThrill's LIFTED Saturday’s at the new Tunnel Club and LOBBY Friday's at Ginger 62, FastLife Thursday’s at Republic and with Twisted Productions at their numerous club nights and events.
