None really lol. I have played at Viva and Cyber a few times. I played on Sean's Friday radio show on 90.1 at SFU before, and that's it basically.

What originally hooked you into the DJing scene?

Hmmm. Not really sure. I guess seeing people go off and feeling the energy buzzing a few years back when someone would be playing a wicked set.
I went to my fist party in the summer of 2000, my friend Wayne said it would change my life, and what do you know it did lol. Thanks Wayne! I think I was hooked on Breaks when I went to Stargate and saw DJ 43, Fixx and Mackenzie. That blew me away at the time. I guess things have just gone from there.

What type of music do you specialise in?

Breaks and Electro.
I play most styles of breaks that fit around 138 bpm. I got a soft spot for the 'Florida Breaks' lol. I really like progressive breaks, bass heavy breaks, funky breaks, techy breaks etc.
I also play Electro too. Not Electro House, but Electro, Electro Funk and Electro Bass. I am gonna be putting up an Electro mix pretty soon!

Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it?

I guess maybe one I bought off E-bay or Discogs, cuz of shipping costs and all that.

What do you like the most about DJing?

Mixing is really fun. I like creating new breaks with the bass kicks and percussion. I like changing moods and feelings with track selections as well. I haven't really played out for much of a crowd before so I can't speak on how they react to what I am doing.

What does your DJ name signify?

It is basically a take on my name Ben. I was trying to think of a DJ name last year and I couldn't really think of one. Then this one kinda came up and it's perfect. Also, I have personality traits that relate to different definitions of Benign. Google Benign and read some of the defintions, although not all are relative lol.

Who are your influences /or shoutouts?

Oh man, there are a lot. Too many to name really. All the cats in Vancouver that have been holding down Breaks on the DJing tip and the Promoting tip. Y'all know who you are.

Thanks Russ and Nick for shedding some light on some artists a long time ago! I wanna give a BIG shout out to my good friend Lowski! He got me into spinning. He taught me what he knew and let me borrow his decks and records etc.for a month and a bit while I was learning, thanks a lot buddy for everything.

I also used to fuck around scratching and shit a loong time ago with my friends Willis (DJ Trouble) and Rob (DJ Product) and that had something to do with me getting into spinning now I think. Rest In Peace Rob, we had some really good times..
