A perfect example of lack of research by editors is the most recent article about the Victoria/Vancouver DNB scene in ATM Magazine. Infact the information is so inaccurate its a fuckin joke. |

regardless, it is a classless move. had evolve asked, it wouldnt have been a big deal. but to blatantly bite someone else's work regardless of what country it is low. you wouldnt steal someone else's mix and post it as yours. why steal the name of a party that was a vancouver institution for 10 years?! |

edit: although i do consider the white/black parties to be cheaply attaching themselves to the ID&T's themes, sure. |

Its been menchioned and ill say it again... Im totally sure people are going to go to Spooky2007 in Belgrade due to the fact that Spooky in Vancouver was "off the hook!" If you want a prime example of ripping off (excuse my choice of words), I can point out the most recent one which was done before Spooky was announced. I dont see the big deal here in this situation, I personally laughed at this all when I saw it was happening; Have you seen the most recent "Evolve" branded party name used by "Twisted"? With that said, its tottaly unfair to the other promoters that put in allot of time to make it a well known party. It was used without permission from the people originally involved with the concept/managment of the original party that was held annually, which happened to fall within the same month range. Coincidence? In the end however, it doesnt matter. I can go into detail about who REALLY "owns" the name to the recycled party name, and which company announced what party first. But in the end no harm has really been done. Both parties have governed themselves in an obvious unprofessional manner... so both are at fault. Im sure the "Trancemission" name has a following that "Evolve" first started, and "Twisted" decided to take it and use it, and in a sense vise-versa with Spooky (in this case no actual following was stolen..like i said above, the people in Serbia guaranteed have NEVER HEARD of spooky in Vancouver) BUT.... it could be viewed as a risky move to recycle a good branded party name in both cases (both are catchy names), but it can also be interpreted as an asshole move in general. Trancemission, Spooky.... those are cliche names for a rave.. i wouldnt be surprised to see a party named "Spooky" somewhere around the world aside from Serbia and Vancouver. But in the end no one cares. Two different continents... two different parties. Good Grief. Quote:
oh common now... 1500$ to just come see me? I highly doubt that.. Its a great opportunity to go on Vacation. Belgrade, the downtown/surrounding region I honestly think has more history than majority of Canada has put together from the past 100 years. Also the Danube River nearby, most hottest clubs in the radius of the surrounding contries and some crazy ass fashion hot spots (their Granville and Robson equivelant is 2 km longer hahah) it sure beats the overpriced Vancouver scenery to shame. Budapest is a good 5 hour drive away... also another country and more beautiful than Serbia. Montenegro also is nearby... popular hotspot on par with Greece and Italy. Quote:
Sven Vath, man he is one of the biggest European Techno names since Picotto, happens to own an internationally known club called "The Cocoon" in Russia. Dave Clarke... this name is big in the HardTechno scene, im not surprised if people in van havnt heard of him.. but hes got some quality shit. Marco Nastic, his tunes have been getting playlisted with the likes of Yoji Biomehanika, Eddie Halliwell, Marco V... Marko Bailey, great music, mainly a bigger name from Eastern Europe... Dejan Milicevic, great guy, producing and touring with a handful of techno gods and gurus, (Marko Nastic, Umek etc) Also recently his record label has been featured on Eddie Halliwells "Fire It Up" radio show on BBC Radio1, along with TONS of playlists from Eddie Halliwell, and a handful of other UK artists. Beatport.com/google.ca should be able to clear up their status as "known headliners". |

ahaha.... for the record, spooky is owned wholly by swing kids. twisted was fortunate to be a partner on the show for a few years. atilla is really sticking to twisted by using the spooky name. if he wanted to get back at them for using "trancemission", he would have been more successful using "simple". if you bothered to do any research on spooky, you would know that it is original and that it isnt recycled. and you are right, it was a good branded name, as swing kids branded it. we are speaking with counsel today regardless, this was a low and underhanded move that could have been resolved with a phone call. instead atilla lurks on the forum and gives me bad karma. |

"tancemission" was used by SoundProof for the last 10 years before Twisted and Evolve even had their 2-3 parties of the same name.
I believe there was a post somewhere on this forum about name stealing for it, I tried to search it and nothing came up. |

Ben, you're right about Sven Vath, Dave Clarke and the rest, stellar lineup, I must say, but leave Twisted and our shows out of this, please and thank you. I vote Avana and Attila should meet in Switzerland to discuss terms for a cease fire. Or alternatively they could mud wrestle for comic value. My two cents. |

^ you are such a comedian.
i agree that your shows should be left out of it. but it is hard to ignore the fact that he is trying to take a stab at twisted the only way he seems to know how. instead, he drags swing kids into the drama, albeit unknowingly. salim, azim, kraig and myself were not contacted about this. if atilla was angry that you were using the trancemission name, then he should have contacted your camp directly. as you have been involved in the show in the past, i can understand your entitlement to the name, but as you have previously stated, you no longer work together. for those of us not in the know, we can only assume that permission was granted to use the trancemission name. |

Also, Attila is fully aware that Spooky is an SK show, he did it because he hates you personally, Avana. Also, its a good name, although I think in Serbia it translates to SHPOOON-KEY... Last edited by Allya; Sep 10, 07 at 11:50 AM. |

this seems like a pretty malicious and intentional move on his part. the fact that this was common knowledge months ago and nothing was done then is a whole other talkshow. |
