Well it wasn't common knowledge, he proposed the idea to us and we said it was stupid because noboy knows what the hell Spooky even means in Serbia. Halloween is barely celebrated in Europe, especially Serbia which is far less westernized. At the very least it was recommended that he secure permission from Azim or Salim as a matter of courtesy. Nevertheless, what's done is done.

hahaha - that is a serious amount of hate to go this distance.... i don't really care about the hate, what i dont understand is why spooky? i mean, if you hate me, leave a bag of dog shit at my front door and light it on fire, but dont intentionally hurt salim, who has done nothing but be respectful and fair. he is as much a part of spooky as i am, and azim, and kraig. why attack them too? |

People wonder why the so called vancouver "rave scene" is complete shit. Promoters attacking other promoters for something just as simple as a god damn name, does it get any more childish?. Sure one of the main elements of throwing a show is by trying to use an "attractive" name. But the other part about an event that attracts the ravers is where your throwing it... who your bringing... and how big the production is. To hold a reputation is to continue those event's, if you don't hold them then you got nothing to bitch about.
With the cycle of the amount of people that now attend raves in this city, I dare you to ask them if they ever heard of Swing Kids. Do you honestly think that all the new faces out there would even have a clue? Sure Swing Kids "used to" throw good events, it held its name at that time. That time has come and gone because there hasn't been any other events throwing for the past few years. The majority of the ravers that were fan's of S.K parties have pretty much moved on with life (or at least I hope so). Call it abandoment? who knows???.... Why S.K stopped throwing parties... Your right, absolutely none of my business. But right now as it stands with no activity. S.K is NOTHING but a whisper. |

Ahhhh I remember the days when respected promotions companies IE: Swing Kids, Twisted, ET Bros, AGRO, etc. used to sit round table and discuss upcoming shows. Sure we were competition, but we had respect, tact and professionalism when it came to doing things... Why do you think Twisted has been around for as long as it has?
Granted our business model has shifted with the times - increasing laws/by-laws to throw parties, removal of venues in virtually every city with no further licensing of new legal/all-night venues, etc. It makes it virtually impossible to legally throw an really affordable party, with an awesome line-up at a prestige venue. Add to the fact Vancouver itself as a scene is challenging and you wonder why the electronic music scene is hurting as bad as it is here... Go Hip Hop go! :-) |

that review that you wrote where you dropped mine and salims name like you knew us, at that party that happened a month ago, that happens once a year...goes to show how much of a whisper we are. further to that, if we were to do something other than apex, and bring a dj you wanted to see....you would be all up on the boards giving us props, seriously pick a side. I seem to recall it wasn't Apex, but rather the Merritt Mountain Music Festival...I'm a huge fan of both parties, and feel its unfair to compare one party to another as both have their signature epic'esque qualities.
