there did. They removed after they started charging to post about events.
But I also remember one of the mods (i think it was Kimmie?) saying that you could post about free events at no charge but I can't get past the first screen as I'm not allowed to enter $0 as a ticket price. I'll try to find that post... |

Also... if a promoter was to post an event that was free and it was held in processing, admins would relocate it to that section if it met criteria. |

"Meetups and Carpooling" is for free events too eh? I'll have to remember that as it seems like a bit of a unintuitive title.
I find it especially funny since other mods post other people's events in the hiphop/electronic section on the regular violating their own rules. If I were a promoter that paid for a $20/month post (or $5/day for a sticky) and then saw people who don't bother to post on this site having their events promoted for free (while having other threads locked on the regular), I'd be pretty pissed. Consistency would be nice. But hey, it's not my website so whatevs. |

LOL! Hilarious. I love how you incessantly bring up the fact that FNK has little to no marketing skills. This topic is regurgitated EVERY YEAR!
Ok... then answer me this: Why is it less shameless for you as a promoter to charge each patron $10-20 at the door at a local night event, and for us to request a small fee to advertise your event. In the end... we're charging the promoter. Not the member. It's really their choice to expose their event. I don't think that's unreasonable. |

they are right though
remember back a few months, the "hey you" fnk's most popular section was constantly updated. now you can find posts from 2 weeks ago on the first page. fnk has lost a bit of its popularity. plus, they're getting better advertising on facebook for free. a year ago, I would've trusted all the events i had interest in on fnk. now there are more cheaper alternatives. |

Which FnK does not. Ultimately it's the user who misses out on the news, our shows do quite fine without advertising on FnK. There's also a lot of great shows that none of them hear about because of the advertising structure on here. More events being listed on here would drive more people to the site, more people on the site would equal more revenue through your paid ads. Is there something that you're missing here cece? It's almost like I'm speaking in tongues to you or something? A prime example of this is the way that Clubzone has marketed their site, the more information they contain, the faster their user base grows, the faster the site starts turning revenue. |

dj_soo for class president. FNK is a small community of dedicated readers. these readers come here not because they are unaware of event sites like CZ/CV but because FNK is not some wide mouth website force feeding them full of undesired community info. it does not have every event in the world, nor is its current goal. FNK is generally a conversation pool slash electronic music downloadery, while assisting in marketing of events held by it's steadfast promoters to pay the bills. this promoter base fluctuates by year and contains events by promoters who respect the small community of readers and respect the fact FNK is not managed by a large company but a small circle of individuals.
buying a banner is not expensive at about 30$ a month. stats based on a 4 week promotion; FNK gets your event viewed an average of 10 times by over 6,000 Vancouver people for about a half of a penny per unique visitor. the rates on printed flyer's is anywhere from 10-30 cents per print. on a run of 5,000 your lucky to have 2/3 of that end up in peoples faces, 1/3 more then once. (open ended) as for free event postings of free events, just post it and stop barking. if an issue was to come from your topic being posted you would be notified and it would be discussed from there. as for the free event option on the banner page, I can't say it's a feature which as been populated but was most defiantly discussed. as such, we do thank you for bringing attention to it's need. |
