Cyberdog + other "paid to post"-ers

Dan, I know you and I are usually browsing FnK on work time, and I'm sure there are others aswell.

When it's a slow day at work, and nobody's posting on here it gets boring sitting at this desk. I think we should get some decent conversations going on in this thread so we can whore it to shreds, so as to make the work day go by faster. Hopefully some other people who are on here all day long while at work will join in too.

So, I heard the power went out at your place yesterday Dan. Pretty heavy rain we had last night wouldn't you say?

Good idea overall!

And damn, I nearly busted a gut laughing at the fact that I was a 'paid to post' person...really gave new meaning to the term post-whore!

And yeah, rain was crazy. When I got home from work Vanessa (who you've now met) wasn't in...she came in about 10 minutes after me from just going out for a walk, and totally looked like a drowned rat.

I also went to Shoppers for smokes at like 12:30, and came back looking much the same...

Looking drier today, tho...woo-hoo!

Yeah it was coming down pretty hard last night. Somebody thought it would be cool to smash the small quarter glass on my car and not steal anything. Driving around yesterday in that rain with a pathetic attempt to rainproof the opening with plastic and duct tape was not cool.
Not to mention that it took me 45 minutes to get home because the burrard street bridge was completely closed off due to protesters.
Yes, I do agree, it is looking drier today. Maybe we'll even have a couple days without rain... doubt it.

So did the power outage make you late for work this morning, or did the brain alarm kick in?

Unfortunately, my brain alarm was defective...or wait, mebbe its just an overall brain issue and not confined to the alarm? So I showed up nearly 3 hours late - d'oh!

Smashed window - all I have to say is people are idiots! Not that they'll ever catch the guy, but if they ever did, rather thatn jail or a fine they should make him your servant/slave for a period of time...or just smash his hand so its broke for a couple of months. Damn, man, at least have the common decency to steal something, even the car, if you're gonna do sh*t like that.

Protesters - ugh. Why they can't protest away from my home? I understand that they wanna make a point and all, but really, there are so many ways to do it without buggering up my day...create a website, gather a petition, sacrifice yourself in the name of martyrdom....

3 Hours late.... Nice. Reminds me of the morning after Mauro Picotto last week.

Yeah no doubt! The fu**er broke the window, scratched the lock and door handle and didn't even manage to get his/her stupid ass inside the car. The worst part about it is that it will cost me $275 to fix it properly and my ICBC deductible is is a beautiful $300. There goes 3 days of work down the drain. I am in total agreeance with you about the punishment for this. I choose slave.

Yeah the protestors were going full on last night. The rain didn't seem to phase them one bit. hahaha "sacrifice yourself in the name of martyrdom" :keebler:

You gotta get a kick out of the media coverage surrounding the protests right now. Every time they show a North American city's view on the war we see protests and that the general population is against it. Then they switch over to Iraq and other parts of the middle east and we see people waving machine guns in the air shooting off rounds and burning american flags. Interesting what is chosen to be shown...

Well support for the war wouldn't be much of a story...U don't usually get protests of people saying they should have attacked earlier, or parades to express support.

Someone here mentioned he saw something in Seattle on the news where protestors were lying on the ground pretending to be civilian casualties in Iraq. The guy on the news (obviously not a serious broadcast) asked if he could lie down with them and do snow angels. Personally, I would have asked if they minded me pretending that I have a necrophelia fetish...hahahaha.

As for the car, U know can't consider yourself truly f*cked up the a** until U've been double-penetrated by the crooks and ICBC...aka the government...aka what's the diff...lol.

hahaha necrophelia on the news... sounds like a good dinner time story :tounge1:

Double penetration is not pleasant at all. ICBC seems to thoroughly enjoy bending people over and ramming it home with no lubricant whatsoever.

On a lighter note... How's work going for you today? (dispite being late)

Work is slow today...I think a lot of peeps are spending the last weekend of spring break with their families (how touching...*sniff*...all this togetherness brings a tear to my eye).

Regardless, I don't mind 'cuz it makes my day easy...tho our breaks are pre-scheduled for us, and so, because of being late, I went for lunch 45 minutes after getting here...

How's life in car-service land? Anyone run into a tree (or a protester) yesterday because of the rain?

Car service land is very slow today. No broken down Benze's right now I guess.
Works for me though, I really don't like having to run around and conform to customers demands on a saturday. This is my 57th hour out of a 60 hour week so I'm about ready to leave this place.

What kind of technical support do you do? What for?

Internet connectivity & email, basically...we don't do all of Windows or anything, just insofar as it relates to connecting online...

you'd be amazed how many calls are simply me telling people to restart the computer and everything working fine from there....

I can imagine. Having to teach my computer illeterate dad and brother how to do basic things like word processing over and over and over again was not fun for me. It seems like with computers some people get it right away, and others are practically hopeless. (my observation anyway) It must be fun for you dealing with the ones who are hopeless.

hahaha speaking of hopeless, here's a scene I had to deal with this morning.

A lady comes in with her car asking for help because there is an error message on the display screen that won't go away. Her english is fine and she seems to understand me perfectly. She shows me the screen which reads "Engine oil level too high, reduce". She then tells me that she saw this message the message earlier this morning so she attempted to correct it herself. She drove to a gas station, put one litre of oil in and waited. She says "The message would not go away so I put another litre of oil in after that. It still didn't go away after 2 litres, what do I do"?

So after a moment of silence, which I took so as not to burst out into laughter, I told her what needed to be done to correct the problem. I took the car down to the shop and sucked out the excess oil. I brought the car back up to her and she says "where's the oil". I was like, "In the used oil bin". She then flips out at me because she claims she was going to return the oil to the gas station for a refund. I guess I was supposed to re-fill the empty oil containers she had in the back seat so she could return used oil? She told me I owed her $8.50... I just walked away.

She should have been issued an award.

Waimea - Too funny. You should have told her that you dispose of these materials in an environmentally friendly fashion, if she wanted to keep the oil she should have drained it herself. Honestly, if she can afford the cars sold at your dealership, she can afford $8.50 (not to mention some basic English lessons).

VG - Its a poorly guarded secret that I work at Shaw (in the towers at Metrotown).

^^

This is what I go through all the time. To me it's ridiculous because $8.50 to her is about $.00001 to me. I see a trend though... The more expensive the car, the cheaper the customer is (in general). Maybe that's how they got rich in the first place. What I truly can't stand though is watching 16 year old kids stroll in here on a saturday afternoon with a $100,000.00 certified cheque from daddy. After perousing (sp) for a short while they find the vehicle that best suits their greed, (not needs) and roll off the lot just hours later in a vehicle with enough power to be considered an aircraft if it were to come with wings.

The sick part is that this isn't a one time thing I'm referring to. I see it over, and over again.

That's too bad you didn't really enjoy the night. Thanks again for the ride out. Yeah, it was no problem getting a ride home. (thank you Alex :keebler: )

Overall I enjoyed the night, but it was a little too packed between about 1-4 for my liking. Seems like it was more packed in there for those three hours than I've ever seen it before. I thought the music was good, both upstairs and down. It was also fun because it was my buddy Ernie's b-day :cake: (happy 20th bro), so were celebrating that also.

Hahaha, Vanessa and Mike are hardcore. I got a call from Gavin who was over at your place with Mike, Vanessa and Jonathon just as I got home. Too bad you couldn't join us, but hopefully you'll bee free of work next time.

How's the monday going so far... are you at work?

Yeah, part of my lack of enjoyment was the crowd...there were just soooooo many people there, I honesty question whether they stayed within the venue's legal capacity limit. It was worse than Boxing Day at A&B Sound...lol.

Yeah, would have liked to join but oh, well, what can ya do...gotta pay the rent (and food, party tix, clubnight tix, booze, chemicals, etc)...

Any thoughts as to what your next party will be?

Work is OK...a little slow at the moment but better too slow than too busy since it means everything is working a-OK! :c-tard:

And in just a moment it'll be time for me to take my break and :smoke1: woo-hoo!
