I know what J'nette means about the "new" people though, for sure. Some of them are totally awesome, and I've been lucky enough to meet them, but some of them are just at a different stage than the "old crew". Since we've been in the scene for longer, we've gone through different stages than then "new" people. Take the "kandy kid" stage, for example. While some of the people who are new to the scene think wearing kandy is cool, and the current equivalent to Sandstorm or The Launch is the BEST track, we who have been in the scene longer have gone through that stage and no longer think that way. It's just simply groups of people having different opinions about things and being at different places in their lives. It can be very hard for a 21/22 year old to identify with a 15/16 year old, no matter who they hang out with. Also, the older crew has seen the damages that drug over-use can cause, while the younger crew is just experimenting with the drug thing. I've never used drugs myself, so I know what it's like to think that the people who are doing them are ruining their lives, and that I don't want to be around that.
Basically, in a nutshell, it all comes down to being able to identify and agree with another person. If for whatever reason you can't, you're probably not going to get along with that person until some point in life when you're both on the same page. There's no right or wrong, just two different opinions, and personally I commend those who are smart enough to stand their ground and not hang around with people who may compromise or disrespect their morals or beliefs.
