Nat,
Since your the expert on WWR (No, it isn't a new wrestling company) I called them up. The rapids are rated Level 3 with some possibilly some Level 4. Which river and what company did you go with before? I asked around and didn't find anyone that could recommend which one to go with so we just sort of picked random. I have a hard time believeing this could get boring, but I wouldn't mind a bit of a wild ride. We're rookies so if it's a little weak we will just chalk it up as a learning experience. I seriously can't see myself not having a kickin rad time though. I'm stoked. You should definitely come. You can teach us your knowledge of the rivers you've gain throughout the years. Shawn can't swim either so if you have any lifeguard experience training that would really come in handy. ;-) PM me your digits if you want to come and I'll give addtional info. |

^ haha =)
Brad, I've been a few times in Squamish and Whistler...my friend from highschool's dad owns a rafting/adventure company in Squamish...I forget what it's called though. As for my wwcanoe experience, I've been on the Gold, Chilliwack, Squamish and a bunch of others I don't know the names of. I went to an outdoor school from grades 8-10 so I got to do a whole whackload of fun, crazy shit!! I'll get back to you by the end of today as to whether or not I'll be joining you guys...SO TEMPTED THOUGH. Class III aren't AMAZING rapids but it would still be fun =) BTW...remind you to tell me the story of when I was training for wwcanoe and we had to ride the river.....MINUS CANOE. Fucking hilarious story! |

Nat - Haven't heard from you so I'm guessing you're probably going to pass this time around? Next year we will find some CLASS IX (refer to The pefect storm movie) rapids and get the full on Mr.Toad's wild ride experience. You went to an outdoor school. I'm trying to recall even an outside field trip. You will have to share some of those stories with me sometime, including the wildly popular minus a canoe story. :-)
Adrienne - I've called Hyak and added Martin's name to our trip roster. He just needs to call them with his credit card to reserve his spot. Shawn - I'll be picking up Adrienne and Martin at a skytrain so since I'm carrying passengers already I might as well drive. We can pick up John and Aaron(?) along the way. If the Wingman has decided to come out let me know and I'll call Hyak and set it up. Reports are SUNNY fuckin weather this weekend too. EXCITED!!! @#$%^&@#% /bj Last edited by doubletake; Sep 24, 04 at 08:19 AM. |

^Aaron isn't coming out.... and this is kind of a pain but whatever. I'm not going to worry about it but taking two vehicles makes this a little more expensive and Karen and I are super stretching it to be able to go on this in the first place.
What's the plan Saturday night now? Have things changed? |

Your last post said it was all good about taking a second vehicle. If it was an issue you should have said something before. It's a three and a half hour drive so everyone will be chiping in for gas. Well, they better unless they want to hitchhike back. Saturday Night I'm thinking we just relax and indulge in the Star Wars DVD and then crash somewhat early since we are going to be up around 5am. Adrienne has her Aids run and then I'll pick her up and be at your place early evening. Copasetic?

^Where's this Martin guy staying? My place?
As for the vehicle thing I just didn't want to be the party pooper. You know my situation.... missing work etc. It goes from a 20 buck driving trip to like a 60 or 70 buck one.... my car is an evil gas guzzler. Anyways its not a big deal, we'll just put it on our CC or something. I'm really not worried about it too much. Discussion finito. |

LOL Class IX rapids...never saw a perfect storm but I can imagine! haha! We should all go climbing in the spring - I have my belaying certification, so does Josh aka Axion (we went to the same school! yay!), so if we can get a group together and find some ropes and shit, it's SO on! |

WHAT TO BRING ON THE RIVER:
1. Bathing suit and / or shorts (no cotton or jean shorts, preferably nylon) 2. Appropriate Footwear - something that will not come off: - Water sandals with heel strap (no flip flops!) - Old running shoes - Wetsuit booties - Fleece / wool socks 3. Rain jacket/windbreaker, preferably waterproof or water-resistant (VERY IMPORTANT) 4. A Fleece or wool sweater (no cotton clothing – it will stay wet!) 5. Sunscreen After Rafting: 6. Dry clothes & shoes 7. Towel |
