Team Drunk - Thrill Seekers Division
You think the summer is coming to an end? You think all we have to look forward to now is 6 months of rain? Well think again.
How about one last adrenaline ride to end the summer! The date has been set. Rain, sleet, or snow we are going. It's a wild ride of thrills, spills, and since it will be going at the end of September quite a bit of chills. We are going September 26th (Sunday). The destination is 3.5hrs away so we will be leaving first thing in the morning. We would be starting our ride down the river around 10:30am. The entire time on the water is about 3hrs (wow!) and then because this will be their last trip of the season we get a free BBQ included. The cost is $85 and you need to bring a waterproof rain jacket, sandals, and some dry clothes after. Don't worry they will giving us wet suits too. We need a full payment before hand that isn't refundable if you are interested in going. At this point we have 4 people confirmed to be going. The boat holds 10ppl max. We still have other people that might go so depending on the response here if needed you could get a second raft. FAQS: 1) Who are these confirmed people going? Here our your honorable getaway planners: 28 secs ~ Miss Shotgun ~ Special-K ~ Johnny Cowboy (new nickname TBD) ~ 2) Isn't it going to be cold? - Fuck ya! It's freezing cold water in September, but you will have a wet suit so you won't have to worry about hypothermia. All they said was wear fleece as apposed to cotton since it doesn't stay drenched. The adrenaline will keep you warm. 3) I don't know you, but wouldn't mind coming with you guys. Is that cool? - Nope, move along. 4) Which company and what river are you going on? - The Thompson river with Hyak. Refer to www.hyak.com for more info. 5) Why didn't you plan this sooner? It would have been so nice and warm in July. - Money. Houseboat. Tofino...and but of course procrastination. Let me know by Tuesday if you are interested in coming with us. Just leave a reply here, PM, or do something crazy and original and call my phone directly. It's time to cross off another item on your list on things to do before ya die. -Brad- |

I'm booking the trip tomorrow morning for five people. I asked what if some last minute people can could go and they said most of the time it isn't a problem. This is their last run of the season though so who knows for sure. Find out ASAP!
On an unrelated note, Star Wars Trilogy DVD comes out today. Time to let your inner geerdom shine brightly. They will be a breath of fresh air from the travesty that was EPI/EPII. |

Brad........I'm tempted, but it's only class III - IV rapids....I've wwcanoed high class III before so I don't know about paying $85 for this. Last time I rafted III rapids it was kinda boring (and I was only 13!).
Any chance if you talk to them again you could ask if the class has dropped to a flat III due to all the rain as of late? If it hasn't dropped to a lower class, then I'm probably in. TIME TO BREAK OUT THE NEOPRENE BOOTIES! Last edited by galaxie; Sep 22, 04 at 06:57 AM. |
